Default Hello from newbie..

Hello to all. Just signed up after lurking for a couple of weeks. New to Porsche with purchase of an 86 951 a couple months ago. It is a high mileage car (225k) that is currently undergoing a bunch of maintenance by myself and I'm looking forward to getting it back on the road shortly. I check this sight often as it seems to be the most active Porsche board I've found so far. Not much else to say here other than I'll see ya around..Aaron

He said hi mileage and is from california. I think he means 225 thousand miles, not 225 thousand kilometers.

I think we're going to be hearing a lot from this guy.

That is correct, 225 thousand miles. Considering the miles it's in pretty good condition. The body has a dent in the RR, and the tan leather interior is in near perfect condition without a single crack in the dash. Options include power roof, cruise control, and Fuchs and almost everything works. It does need some work but I drove it the 70 miles or so home upon purchase. The car had been in storage for several years, so I've already done the timing/balance belts, fluids, filters, and other misc stuff. The prev owner thought it needed a clutch and had a Sachs kit included with the car, but it turned out to be for the N/A. As it turns out the clutch itself was fine, but the pilot had come apart and destroyed the TT. All the clutch stuff is done except for the engine compartment which is where I'm at currently. I snapped off the port going to the WG on the cycling valve trying to replace the line, which turned out to be a good thing because after removing the valve I found another port has been snapped off for some time. I'm really suprised after finding this that the car passed smog, but it did. I'm finding a lot of brittle stuff in the eng compt and looking to replace it as well. I'm anxious to get the car back on the road to see how it will perform with no vacuum leaks. I tried to post a pic but lost the entire first draft, so no pic for now. Anyway gotta run for now. Happy to be here and hopefully you will be hearing a lot from me..
