Post 928 seats

Will electric seats from a 928 fit in a 944 without modification?

Thanks

I was told that they do. I just got one delivered today, and should have the other monday. The 12 way seats have nice lumbar support. the holy grail is the 12 way sport seats.

do you know what wires are for what with 928 seats? the set i have had memory, but the switches were on the door, and i dont know where the brain is. i also have a plug with a mercedes symbol. i am wondering if that is for the heat, and all i have to do is hook up a switch.

The seats Porsche used from the 80's until the Boxter and 996 are swappable between various models. The electrics may wire up different though. You should post over on the 928 and/or General forums and see if someone can post or email you the wiring schematics. I sold my shop manuals after selling my 928 so I no longer have them.

e8ight way seats dont have the lumbar. you are not getting much more than what you have with your 4 way electric seats.

mine had memory, there are a lot of extra wires. the fellow i bought them from had them in his 951. give me a week or so and i will tell you exactly how it works out. should be a direct bolt in from what ive read. just cut the ends of the wires to splice because the plugs are different.

which set of connectors are you going to use? i mean i guess you could just cut the connector off of your current seats and wire it in to the new 928 seats. then it would plug up to the 944 plug in the car.

the other option is to keep the 928 connector on these seats and wire the corresponding one into the car.

i don't remember where you live on the island but i'd be happy to lend a hand if you needed help puttin a few wires in. i don't know how much work you do yourself but it seems like such a small thing to take to some place.

Andrew,
the seats have about twenty wires. two for the 12 way, and a dozen or more for the memory.

i posted on the 928 board what it would take for memory to work. need a brain (both me and the seats) and the switches which were in the door.

the plug is off and the two important wires are open. i was going to connect a wire to those, and use a crimp on the side of the old wire from the car. i plan on picking up a small plug set from radio shack to complicate things. this way i dont cut the wire on my old seats, and can keep the plug on the car.

now my question is whether the seats are wired for heat. there is a plug on the bottom with the mercedes symbol, but no switch where it should be on the seat. maybe i just have to connect it to power through a switch.

i have a post up on the 928 board with a picture. i will try to upload the picture here.
