" or telling people what they can and can't do with their own sex lives."

Do you realize that in some states in the South, interracial marriages are still ILLEGAL? I think we have enough laws on the books already, let's get rid of some of the useless ones! Like the one where it's illegal to give licquor to a moose in Alaska! But you can give get a reindeer drunk with no problems, eh?

I forget where exactly, somewhere in Montana i think...it is against the law to marry a cow.

Makes you wonder why that law had to be created.

Politics and religion are the oil to the water of humanity. They dont mix well.

But I do agree that what we need is less "butt-inski-ism" and more tolerance for your neighbor.

And at the risk of alienating myself from the boards, I am for de-criminalization of cannabis. The governor of my state tried to open a discussion of it, but he also got paid by the tobacco industry to include heroin in the group to be decriminalized, which immediately invalidated all of the things he had to say. What friggin moron rates heroin in the same group as marijuana? A well paid moron, thats who...

The US drug policy is a disasterous failure, and one of the largest government "black holes" in the system. Billions are spent to stop drugs, but yet you can still buy drugs anywhere you look. The worst waste of tax dollars ever. Well, at least until this latest "defense budget increase". $50 billion for "homeland" defense? $50 more for regualr weapons? HOLY CRAP thats a lot of money in a year to buy "$400.00" toilet seats. "Can you say "pork", Dubya?"

And as a US combat veteran, I am offended at the US government handling of the "War on Terrorism". Its all about the oil anyways. At least twice a month I am sure its all "Wag the Dog".

Bah... disillusioned...

Hi,

Back on the original topic I think this guy is a complete moron.

His grudge is based on driving an M roadster that was overpowered for him. Because he remembers the good old days when convertibles struggled to even get to 100 km/h, and when cars would need constant mechanical attention or they wouldn't run. His whole argument is that he has fun driving an underpowered convertible, therefore every other person on earth should also have fun driving an underpowered convertible. Well personally I don't like convertibles so I might write to my government and ask them to ban convertibles, because there is no real point for a car to have a rag top.

He goes on to blame car company executives, saying they should be responsible and cut the power down on cars. I'm sure Porsche will sell great numbers if they start making the 911 150 horsepower. "If they exhibit no moral sense". Isn't this being just a little bit harsh?

I love the fact that he encourages other people to send his opinions to their state legislator, and in fact people probably will. I bet his state legislator receives a few bitches each week from this guy. They probably just trash anything sent by this guy before even reading it now.

I'm so glad I live in Australia, where morons like this either don't exist or don't bother trying to change laws based on their feeble opinions of what a car should be.

The only part I do agree about is these cars are more dangerous than your average Camry. I'd like to see more difficultly in driving tests (at least here in Australia), as knowing how to reverse park isn't going to save your life when put in a dangerous situation, yet that's the most challenging part of the driving test. And to make it worse the driving course that teaches you how to avoid fatal accidents costs us over $250, which most people won't fork out to be a better driver. I'll admit to being one of the people who have defied logic and physics to not be in a major accident a couple of times, and only learnt from the mistake after, not before when it counted the most. And this was in an underpowered Camry, never in my more powerful Porsche.

Well good luck to you all, I hope he doesn't get anything passed in.

Sam.

here are some laws that I found that are rediculus. and this is only for the state of Florida (every state has it's stupid laws)

 • Women may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner.
 • A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing.
 • If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle.
 • It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit.
 • Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.
 • Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal.
 • It is illegal to skateboard without a license.
 • When having sex, only the missionary position is legal.
 • You may not fart in a public place after 6 P.M. on Thursdays.
 • It is considered an offense to shower naked.
 • You are not allowed to break more than three dishes per day, or chip the edges of more than four cups and/or saucers.
 • Oral sex is illegal.
 • You may not kiss your wife's breasts.
 • Penalty for horse theft is death by hanging.
 • It is illegal to block any traveled wagon road.

pretty silly, eh

These actually ar real BTW, If you'd like to be in the "know" for your own state- www.dumblaws.com

Oh most definitely it's about oil and money! Humanitarianism certainly is very low on the list or else we would've done something about Rhwanda. A lot of people don't even realize that Afghanistan is the very last country the U.S. needs to cut off Russia from its mid-East oil pipeline.

Short and simple. Fast is good faster is better. We drive Porsches because they are more than just cars. They represent what we percieve as beauty, grace and power. Sometimes my porsches look fast while still in the garage. My neighbors drop by just to see them. They sure don't want to look at my wives Ford Escort.

Ummm...I'm not so sure about this one. Sure many U.S military actions may be caused because of oil. Rightfully so, oil is just that important. Although we are trying to be less dependent on foreign oil (that's why we need that alaskan wildlife refuge), we still import much of our supply.

As for Afghanistan, that's really far off. Do you somehow think the United States is plainning to cut a major Russian oil pipeline? Another thing to keep in mind is that we dont actually occupy Afghanistan. We have no occupying force there. This seems like a "sounds good so it must be true" type of statement. This is also the reason there are 100 kennedy assasination theories and bogus UFO sightings New Mexico and Arizona. Be rational folks.

For humanitarian aid, we tried someting like this in Somalia. Remember what happened there? People don't always want us helping out.

I have to agree that in the end it is significantly about money and oil. These may not seem like the most noble of goals (as opposed to humanitarian effots) but they are of paramount importance to the strength and survival of the U.S.

Bates-I see now that you no longer have any points, valid or invalid, to fall back on, and have now fallen back to personal attacks and irrelevant analogies. Do me a favor and take another look at this thread a month from now, or show it to someone and ask what they think. Hopefully you will begin to realize just how out of touch with things you are. Im not exactly sure how you figure Im stupid as you know nothing about me or what I know. If you will look you'll see that I never called you stupid as I know nothing about your knowledge, but I can gather from your misguided arguements that you are indeed quite blind to reality, that a "little boy" as you put it could actually have a point or indeed be correct. Oh and by the way, how many accidents have you been in? But wait, they werent your fault? I see. And if you would like to compare intelligence then we can compare ACT scores, vocabulary, or it can be discussed at a mensa meeting. Oh wait, you are far too old to have an ACT score. And I dont belong to mensa anymore because its not worth the $80 a year fees just to talk to a bunch of drab individuals lacking even a glimpse of a social life. Guess you'll have to let well enough be. Oh well, sooner rather than later the natural aging process will take care of everything and the world will be a more freely thinking place, even just by a bit, than it once was. And now for my translated ignorant response:

Bates-Ask your wife just how little of a boy I really am. She'll tell you just what a real man is. You'll have to take it from here though, I have a girlfriend to get back to. She must be wondering where I was. And only a sociopathic loser would hang out at a place where he shares no interests with the membership, that of powerful and nice looking p-cars. But you instead choose to go against the crowd and nitpick fights here and there just to feel special and stand out from everyone just so they can talk to you, even if its telling you to go jump in a lake. But if you'll leave me alone now, I have to think if this is the results of aging and its tendency to turn you into a no-friends loser, or your own doing through your rather sad personality. Ah well, a lesson for another day. Well I have to get back to reality now and may no longer be checking this thread, so you might as well save your arthritic joints some pain and keep it to your own closed mind.

Do you realize that we get a ton of oil from Somalia? And we don't need to occupy any foreign lands to control them. Just look at Marcos, Dinh, the Shah, Noriega, Hussein, Bin Laden, etc. Puppet presidencies will do.

I'm sure Water944t can tell you some stories about US military operations abroad... Actually you can get those stories from the foreign press.

The United States is not in this particular war for oil. Something happened in New York, remember?

The US isn't always motivated by cynical economic interests. We also sent troops to Bosnia in order to stop a genocidal attack on civilians. (Muslim civilians, by the way). No economic incentive there. That was simple humanity.

"The US isn't always motivated by cynical economic interests."

Economic interests isn't cynical. It comes down to how you judge it. Nixon's elimination of the gold-standard for international trade was just that; a change in policy. Depending upon which side of the table you sat on it could either be 'good' or 'bad'. Typically, a lot of U.S. foreign policy in economics is, 'good for us, bad for them.' I won't even go into monetary policies of the IMF and WTO here...

"We also sent troops to Bosnia in order to stop a genocidal attack on civilians. (Muslim civilians, by the way)"

You should read the Red-Cross, UNICEF reports, visit the Museum of Tolerance in L.A. The U.S. bombing killed just about as many Serbian non-combatants. And the rations drop was simply a token show for the outside world. How good is a crate of rations after it's been dropped from 35,000 feet without a parachute. Lots of people died from those too.

" Something happened in New York, remember?"

It's a well known fact internationally that the U.S. had been planning for well over a year to invade Afghanistan. Read the foreign press such as the BBC, Le Monde, Manila Times, etc. In fact the BBC ran a radio broadcast playing the recording of the call from a flight-attendant who was on the 2nd plane that crashed into the towers.

There's a lot of info that the American press doesn't cover (and isn't allowed to cover). So we are deprived of a lot of pertinent info. As Bush Sr. said a while back, "This won't be another Vietnam" referring to the free-run the press had and the resultant bad P.R. and pulic opinion of Johnson's administration.

I guess more accurate reports always takes years and decades to come out (sometimes never). It follows the saying about the conquerer getting to rewrite history in their favor. And no one ever knows the whole story anyway. Here's a good example. Do a little research and find out how many German soldiers were killed in concentration-camps by the allies AFTER the end of WWII...

Sometimes, there are beliefs we cling to simply because we don't want to face the horrors of the conflicting ideas.

Youre right. each and every one car accident ive been in has been my fault! it was even my fault when i was approaching a turn and the slid into the guardrail. the fact that is was drizzling and there was still fluids on the road from accident cleared before i approached, and the powers that be put grooves in the road shortly after the accident still dont mitigate the fact that it was my fault.

now tell me what other vehicles were involved in your mishap?

now tell me again how it wasnt your fault?

now tell me again how your mishap would have happened in any other lesser powered car?

now tell me again why you should be allowed to drive a powerful car before you learn how to properly drive.

the author/moron that wrote the article you are so angered at is simply suggesting one way to keep deadly weapons out of the hands of children like you. children like you that refuse to take responsibility for your actions and instead make personal attacs on those who criticize you.

I never said he had the right answer, just that he may be on to something - like a real driving school for anyone that buys a performance car.

how many less dentists would crack up their new corvettes and porsches if they knew how to drive their trophys?

And are you sure you know what mensa is? from your comments i think mensa is just another dream for you!

[quote]Well Im going 40 on the street here, see a nice sweeper in front of a bank. Just start to accelerate to about 50, taking the corner nicely.

Then, the rear end starts to come out. I try to hold it straight, and I do kind of, but I am slightly pushed forward to where the car is pointing for some reason. Dont know if I would have prevented a spinout or not because a fire hydrant helped me complete it anyways.

The above isnt your fault? riiight on kid! the conservatives and liberals would agree that you need to be protected from youself if you think thats not your fault!

I enjoy reading, but don't want to get involved in the political, religious or social arguments or the hilarious pissing contests here. Just a comment regarding the something happened in september thoughts.

I am fortunate enough to have only felt the heat from the plane hitting, and thought the bodies flying were parts of the building. at least thats what i continue to tell myself. i couldnt have seen a body jumping from where my office used to be from four blocks away!

I read that Janet Reno started her term as a champion for I think children or education im not sure. At the end of her term, most of her staff's energies were on antiterrorism. When Ashcroft got in he shifted priorities to either drugs or borders im not sure. Would the Towers have been hit if the resources had stayed on terrorism, and would we be instead screaming about another Cole type incident?

Just some food for thought. if you want to talk politics lets move to the off topic thread. then we will disregard the one thing us posters have in common (a car) see all our differences and realize if not for the car we probably wouldn't be able to stand one another!
