Default Why does this happen?

I just don't f#**in' get it. Guys like me(which I'm pretty sure most of you are, if not more so) love our cars. We do our own work, we love and respect our possessions and do everything we can to protect them. If you're like me, you park approximately 17 miles away from where you need to be just so you don't get dinged. Well if you havn't figured it out already, I got hit. While I was at work a fellow employee hit my passenger rear 1/4 panel. I've attatched a few photos to give you a better pciture of what happened.

Here is an aerial photo taken of the lot before said incident occured. Notice car positiion. I'm on the right. The other cars are green.

Here's the carnage.

Can somebody loan me an orbital so I can buff this out please?

Yea I guess I forgot to include the logistics lol. Well it was a 4'10 woman driving a damn Excursion that hit me. She left a note and actually went out of her way to file an incident report with our managers. So I'll give her some credit there. I'm actually very happy with how she did so far, but good attitudes don't repair cars lol. I'm actually thinking it could be totalled. We shall see.

You have to count this as a positive... accidents happen man... and I'm sorry your car got hit. Hoping a wicked good body shop will come to the rescue...

Damn that sucks. I have been three times in the parking lot at work by co-workers. I am the reason they now have security cameras. Only one of the co-workers left a note this was before the security cameras were installed. I feel your pain, believe me. I now park in the corner spot at a slight angle. It has been three years now that I have not been hit.

Man - that is a bad hit. To properly repair that a body shop should cut out the quarter and weld on another one. Very $$. Sucks bad!

Damn dude, that's bad. Get an estimate and get your check. Would be better if it were handled on the side b/c ins. companies are quick to total these things. Last thing u want is a salvage title.

While I would like to handle it on the side, I know that she won't be able to. She's in her 40s or 50s with like 3 kids and I'm just pretty damn sure she doesn't have the cash right now. I honestly wouldn't even mind that much if it were totalled, though. For some reason I never was really emotionally attatched and there are better 944s out there for next to nothing.

I have a theory.... never park away from other cars.... people see space and stop being careful. Our cars generally cannot be seen by high SUV's and if the driver thinks they are in an empty part of the lot, they don't look around properly. If, however, you park with other cars, the presence of other cars helps protect our cars as visibliy is increased by the fact of the grouping.

Also... if possible, always park next to more 'expensive' (most are ) cars, by that I mean, go for luxury vehicles, Merc, BWM, etc. that are similar in size. This prevents our cars from being hidden, and the other guy hopefully, will be a bit more careful with his car.
