wrx...what did the bracket cost you?

edit...does the compressor rob you of much HP/torque if its on there, and not used? Mine is there, nothing is hooked up to it.

Belts are easy to size, in generic belts, like what you will find at an auto parts store, the first part of the number stands for the width or how many ribs the belt has, the second part of the number is the length. So if you measure the length and know how wide the old belt was it's an easy match up. The Porsche part # for the factory ac delete belt is a 999.192.290.50 or a generic 6PK720 although if you change alt. pulleys and/or alts. then you may also need to change the belt size accordingly to fit the smaller or preferably larger pulley.
Hope that all makes sense.

Yes.
Franky not sure. I put it on many many years ago. I have spare belt in with my spares kit in my trailer. I believe it is the same belt as what comes with kit paragon sells. I would guess it yours would use the same one.

I forget what it was. I know it was under $80. I think...
If you're spinning another pulley, you're stealing power. It's simple as that. The only question is how much power. If that pulley is 25 years old and difficult to turn-- it takes more power to spin it. Also, if you have the A/C compressor sitting in your engine bay doing nothing, you've got a 15lb piece of **** sitting there. I just got rid of the whole thing altogether...

So there is a method to it! Like sizing tires....

Thanks for this info. I'll definately put it to use. However, I just picked up the Continental belt for a 944 with No A/C. This has to fit.

Oh, and the reason I'm in need of a belt...

If you read my write-up on how to do this you've noticed that I only threw on a 3-rib belt to get the thing spinning. My lazy *** never replaced it with the proper belt.

Soooo.... On the way to the Vintage Gran Prix at the Glen (2.5 hour drive for me) the belt started slipping. In the rain. At night. Then halfway through the battery light came on because the alternator wasn't doing its job. About 15 miles from the Glen the headlights, radio, interior lights, and wipers turned off. About 10 miles from the track the Fuel Pump started to sputter.

I got to the gate and was greeted with a line of 10-12 cars and one big fat lady taking tickets. I was revving the car like crazy hoping for the belt to grab some traction... Finally got through the gate around 945pm, drove across the infield to our campsite with no headlights or wipers. As soon as I saw our site at the 'heel' of the Boot, the car died. I rolled it to about 15 feet from our site, then left it there to work on it on saturday morning.

The next day I tightened the belt, charged it, and drove it around town. On the way back home, it did the exact...same....thing. Made it one town away from my driveway.

Many various alt.'s will fit, lots of pounds to be lost here, easier to do with a racecar that no longer has a radio, lights, ac fans, power anything, etc. because then you can go with a real small alt.

Here in Europe, it's funny to read a term "Factory A/C delete bracket" Most of 944's sold in europe did not have A/C installed, so this bracket is just a normal alternator bracket for us.

Olli, I will gladly trade you a rare hard-to-find AC bracket for one of your common alternator brackets!

Having a compressor installed, but not using it, will not rob any horsepower. When the AC system is off, the compressor's clutch is (should be) disengaged, so the pulley spins (should spin) totally freely. So maybe a grand total of 0.1hp is lost...

BTW that billet bracket is really nice.
But this is the coolest way to delete AC. And by coolest, I mean cheapest!
