Would an injector short to ground fry the injectors or the DME? (or nothing??)

no it won't do anything. The injectors work by being grounded via the DME. When I had a bad injector problem I shorted to ground to get the circuit back to normal

OK thanks... was worried I may have toasted my new DME before I installed the lr injector harness.. the search continues.......

It could blow a fuse though, as one pin of the injector connector has 12 volts.

Yes it can, one side of the injector gets 12VDC power and the other is connected to the DME driver transistor. If the short in the harness connects 12VDC directly to the DME driver wire, it can do a couple of things. One, like Brian stated it can blow the fuse or take out the DME relay. Two, the DME driver goes into thermal runaway and destroys itself thus making the DME a paperweight.
