No Longer for sale... gotta keep it! Was: Selling the 951...
Hey guys,
I'm selling Sparky. 1987 951. Clean and beautiful. Asking 10,500. See it at http://www.tc.umn.edu/~austi012 .
I'm looking to buy a farm and need to get my DP together. I'm sad. That's life.
Car's in Minnesota. There will be an ad on Autotrader in about a day or so.
cheers.
Thaddeus

Man I hate to see that you're going to let her go, but I can sympathize. Joyce and I recently bought 18 acres and the cost are quickly mounting as we turn it into our future retirement home. Did get to pick up the a cool new toy (er... I mean tool) for the ranch.

I know you were asking about tractors in an earlier post - here's some shots of the ranch and the new Kubota L3130 HST 4WD! Good luck in your project as well.

Yes, I'm pretty sad. It's been a great car.
But you can't have everything. Life is about making choices.
I am looking for 30-40 acres where I can grow food, hang out, and work on my sculpture. I may need to buy a tractor and/or a 4wd soon. I don't have the room or the budget to keep the Porsche for now. The more I put down on the farm up front, the sooner it will be paid off, and the sooner I can bag the corporate existence. The master plan means I have to flex.
However, if I don't get my price, I won't sell. Period.
I can honestly say that owning that 951 has been one of the funnest things I've ever done. If you find one that has been well treated, they are as fine an automobile as was ever made, and a whole lot cooler and more fun.
Bottom line is, if things change (as they always do), I may again be driving a 951 or something else Porsche by and by.
I also would like to thank EVERYONE on this board. Porsche ownership has been great, in large measure because of the help and support of everyone here. I'll bet there's not another make of automobile where you can get an answer to a maintenance problem in real time-- several times when I was doing mechanical work I'd hit a roadblock, post a question, and have the correct answer before I finished my coffee.
I'll be lurking and posting here too. Friendships don't end because of a sold car (unless you sell it to your friend)
cheers

Thaddeus,
I hope you enjoy your new farm with your family. You'll get another Porsche some day. Once addicted, always addicted.
I wish I had 10,500 I'd buy your car in a heartbeat.
Best of luck,
Matt

The Autotrader.com ad is up. Search for 944's within 25 miles of 55104. It will be interesting to see the response, if any.
This will be a good test of the TMV of the 951.
cheers

Good luck. If there was anything that would make me sell my car, it'd be a large plot of land. I'm envious. Do NOT be a stranger!

Love to spend as much time there possible.

Thaddeus, keep us posted on your progress.
Peter, nice looking farm you got there - bit deep in snow for this ole Texas boy!

Pics of the interior, engine, etc., are now up on my web site http://www.tc.umn.edu/~austi012 . Sorry they weren't up sooner.

Well if you're buying a farm, you'll need a 4x4 pickup. I just so happen to have a very nice 95 F150 that I'm trying to sell so that I can get a 951, maybe we could come to a mutually beneficial deal? All pleading aside, my inlaws just bought 40 acres and are building a house, they love it, and believe it or not I actually like spending time there, I'm sure you won't regret it. If you are interested, my email is onewhippedlittlepuppy@hotmail.com. Matt

Well, I've hit a bump in the road. I can't find my binder full of records! Including the last owner's records.
When we moved last September, they were packed away. I hope they haven't been lost...
So many times I've posted advice that you should never buy a car without a PPI and records. Now I can't find them.
Hm... maybe the gods are trying to tell me something... something like ... keep the car Thaddeus... keep the car.....
