Default Removing Brake booster...?

...can this be done without removing the shield? There's about 1/2"+ of room off the front end of the m/c to the shield. Also, once the m/c is out of the way will the booster itself have room to be removed? It looks fairly tight with the hard brake lines coming in. Secondly, what do you do with the reservoir and clutch line? And finally...how difficult of a project is this? I'm thinking I should just replace the slave, master and blue line to the clutchwhile i'm in there.

this is the biggest bitch of a job ive ever encountered on my 944. the 3 bolts that hold the booster to the firewall are damn near impossible to get to. removing the shield may depend because there were 2 different kinds of boosters used through the years, one car built one day might have booster A but another car the next day could have had booster B. you need to order the corresponding booster.

Spencer...any tips and/or recommendations on how to do this w/o removing the shield? What did you use to get to those 3 bolts. I understand about macthing the m/c & booster, I plan on pulling them before order any parts. Thanks for your help.

Why don't you want to remove the MC shield? It's just 4 or 5 bolts. Use a 1/4 ratchet with a 10mm socket and it should be out in 15-20 minutes.

eniac- I can see getting three of them, but the top one toward the back is tucked in real tight...how did you get to it...? there's a lot of stuff in the way. Thanks for your input...
