What year is your car? A bad factory alarm relay or controller disables the fuel pump.

Do you even know what the DME is?

sorry, i have never had to work on the fuel system before, the DME controls wether the fuel pump pumps the gas or not, and senses from the Pressure regulator how much needs to be put out... So you're saying that the DME is the chip?

The DME is a relatively large metal box that says "BOSCH" on the outside.... In an 85.5 it is on the passenger side floor and is what most people would call the computer, since really that is what it is.

You can't have an EFI car without some kind of computer

From what you posted, I take it you changed the DME relay, not the DME?

A good point was made above, a bad factory alarm box can also disable the fuel and spark circuits. If your car has a factory alarm this could be the issue, but for the time being I'm still going with speed / reference sensors, had a chance to check on them yet?

Not if you got the car started with it disconnected. If it's in (or near if it's been removed) the same metal clip with the speed and reference sensors it's the O2 sensor.

I think he meant he replaced the DME relay.

That's a speed or reference sensor, and you car didn't start while it was disconnected.

The clips on mine are dodgy, and I had intermittent issues with that, so I zip ties them together (2 zip ties per, crossing over to hold the sides of the plugs tight to each other). Been working well for a year or so now.
