Vinyl letters, under hood..
Im thinking about possibly adding a small message in red vinyl letters to my new strut brace to make sure no one ever slams the hood closed again, as Ive just had alot of paintwork that I dont feel like paying for again.
Like, "Close Hood Gently" or "Close Hood With Caution." (just examples of course)
So how durable would some vinyl letters attached to a strut bar be? Heat wise and dirt/time wise. Would they last any significant amount of time?
Is there anything else that would work better?
Just getting some ideas...Thanks!

closing your hood hard dents your hood?
Does the strut bar have that little clearance that the little flex in the hood when you close it bangs it up against the strut bar?

Well, It looks like a tight fit, Im not anxious to try it, but I can only guess If I slammed it down hard enough, it would happen. I dont plan on ever finding out, and thats the reason Im interested in doing this...so no one ever helps me find out if it will put dents in my hood

Vinyl will last indefinatly under the hood. I have done quite a few vinyl graphics for people to use directly on valve covers and intake manifolds.
I have one logo on the intake manifold of my track car that has been on there about 3 years now and looks brand new. A good quality vinyl is all you need.
The lettering on the intake manifold in the pic below is vinyl.
Not the best angle, but you get the idea.

How do you close your hood? The only way I've ever closed mine is to gentle push it down until it clicks, then with the palms of both my hands, push it down (above the latch) until it latches into position.

Nick- Thats the way I do it also, but Im not so sure thats how everyone does it. My car is in other peoples hands once in awhile, and I would just like the added protection of a nice message in front of their face. Lately it has been to a car stereo place to redo the alarm (they have been under the hood), body shop (under the hood), going to the mechanic shortly (under the hood)
Obviously the mechanic knows better, but someone that installs car alarms? Please...

I hold mine on the inside lip and pull it down fast so it slams shut. maybe this is not the best idea, but it does keep finger prints off of my hood and new paint!

I close mine exactly how Judd944 does. I have seen too many time where someone "tries" to be gentle and close the hood by slowly pressing down until it clicks...but more times than not their palm rpint leaves a nice shallow dent.
