Angry My Engine Blow-up & Rebuild - Pics Part #2 (Use Caution!)

Well This weekend I took the oil pan off the broken motor.

Here is shot of the #2 cylinder from the hole in the block.

Here is close-up showing the damage to the crank. Note that all other rod bearings looked fine. Even after the blow-up

Red face

You really should warn people about having such graphic pictures in your posts.

Anyone know why the number 2 rod bearing appears to fail more than the others combined?

(shivers, lots of them)

And I thought my simple spinning of the #2 was bad.

Wow, you went big, that's something to almost be proud of!

M758,
The damage is incredible!
Was that all from the #2 spinning?
Cause???
Was the oil passage feeding the bearing restricted with oil sludge as a previous post might of suggested?

Did your crank survive?

The new/old block looks great, is that the 84?
See ya at PIR.

Paul,
Looks like all the damage was from the #2 rod bearing spinning.

Not sure of cause exactly.

Crank?

Looks good except for #2 bearing damage. Of course that damage looks bad. I don't know if that much damage can be repaired. Also don't know if there may be cracks in crank and the engine does not turn.

Yep the new block is 84 all cleaned up. I had 43k or 143k not sure.

Looks like January is possible. Will try to take it in for a dyno run if I can get it done in time.

Maybe you should preface the heading with 'NSFW' or something. <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />
