HELP trannny swap nightmare continues
Got the new tranny in today and started to put it in and my nightmare is back. tried to put the coupler back on the torque tube and it slid on a little over half way and then got stuck. Gave it a couple of light taps with a hammer and it would not budge. Then tried to remove it and now it is stuck. I have been pounding on it for over an hour trying to get it off and it has not budge a mm.
What the hell is going on?
Any suggestions on how to get this thing off?
Thanks in advance,

It was supported by a jack. This thing is frozen on there. At this point I think I am screwed. I have no idea how to get off other than pull the torque tube and replace it with the one out of my old early 85.
The problem with that though is then I need to find a coupling.
So much for my easy tranny swap.

At this point I am thinking of just getting a large sledge hammer and seeing if the thing will even move. At this point I can't see anyway of getting it off.
How long does it take to replace the torque tubeand does anyone have a coupler that they can overnight to me?
thanks

Find a large pry bar with a flat end, and try to wiggle it off. If it went on, it will come off.
I would not tear apart the rest of the car to get at it.
Once you get it off, use a wire brush to clean the mating surfaces, and use some Anti-sieze to lube it up.

Well I have heated and pried for the last 2 1/2 hours and it has not budged. This makes no sense. How in the h%ll can something jam that easily?
Right now I am waiting for a friend to bring over her car so I can go get a gear puller. If that does not work I quit.

This is a stupid question, You do have the bolts out of it?
edit. Also you can not move the coupler till the trany is actually bolted to the torque tube as any slight misalignment will prevent it from moving.
another edit, You put the coupler on the tranny side then put the tranny in and then slide the coupler into place, there is not enough room on the torque tube side to slide it out of the way for the tranny. I learned this the very hard way after actually moving the drive shaft into the clutch (By beating it with a hammer and pry bar). and had to remove the bell housing so I could move the shaft back into position.. Cause the coupling would not allow the bolts to fit. hope that has not happened to you.

is the tranny bolted on to the TT?
are both bolts out?
ive had the problem before. and one of those two is the answer. that and a big long prybar getting leverage from the access holes.
