My new 951
Well I have not taken delivery of her yet, but here is the car that I will be getting as soon as I can get down to AL.
1986 944 Turbo Black on Black
160K
K27 w/ autothority MAS and Chips
New belts and water pump
She is a little sun baked, but thanks to Keith for going to drive it for me, I have a better idea of the strength of this car.

Looks nice ian, the interior looks nice and so does the paint and engine bay. Glad you were able to find another one after watching yours burn. Did the insurance company give you a decent deal?

Great news. She looks real nice. I know your first mod will be a fire extinguisher.

Congrats! I've got new Fuel Lines on order from SFR. I'll rest much better once those puppies are installed!

Regarding the SS fuel lines...if you don't have a dremmel tool, go pick one up. Pick up a pack of the fiber re-inforced cutting wheels to go along with it (they don't come in the kit). You need to cut the metal crimps off of the main fuel send line (the larger fuel line), and the easiest way to do it is to saw up the middle of the crimps with the dremmel, then bend the crimp off of the line. The crimp on the end that connects to the fuel rail is fairly easy to get to because it is actually crimped to a bolt that screws into the rail, so you can remove it from the rail and not worry about cutting anything else. The other crimp on the hard fuel line down in the fender is a bit of a challange to get a good angle to cut it with, but is easy once you figure out how to angle your dremmel. Be careful you don't cut too far through the crimp or cut your brake lines (I buzzed the brake lines a couple of times with the dremmel, but luckily only marked them, not cut through them).
I used to have a fuel smell coming from my engine bay, and it could have been my tired old fuel lines or my leaky injectors, but I got all of that fixed/replaced and now there is zero fuel smell coming from the engine bay...but there still is a fuel smell, and it seems to come from the gas tank area ...I'll have to figure this one out soon. Nice car, BTW! I wish I could have gotten black, but red was the only color I found in a few months of looking around my area when I was shopping for my car. I have the fuchs, too...they are sitting in my dad's attic with two flat tires on them (I completely decimated my tires at an autocross and one tire went flat on the way home, and the other one went flat overnight with the donut on the rear...the car sat for over a month until I got the $$$$ to buy my 993 replicas). Let us know how she treats you.

Ian, Geez man, where have I been, considering the conversations we had, I'm a little late on the congradulations.......
Looks good, good price..? room in the cost for a repaint..?
Ribs, can't remember if the line comes off with a fitting down by the opening in the strut tower, but I think I used a bench grinder and carefully cut down to the rubber for the crimped fitting removal....
On another note, there's a fuel vapor vent from the fueling door area you can feel if inserting your arm deep in the 1/4 panel from inside the rear deck area after removing the upper carpet at the snaps.
Also, there's a fuel vapor charcoal canister in the right side wheel opening under the plastic fender liner, that may be defective, or damaged giving off fuel vapors.
If you smell the scent of fuel mostly after filling the tank, then it's most likely the hose described above has come detached from the nipple allowing vapors to enter the cockpit from behind the carpet in the rear..
Ahmet, there's a set on ebay right now bidding around the $400 range....
Cheers all
