Default Lindsey 3 piece crossmember reviews?

I did a search and I was only able find one opinion on the Lindsey 3 piece crossmember on the forum. One other website said they had problems with cracking at their weld. How have the rest of you with the Lindsey crossmember liked it? Did you have any problems with fitment, cracks, wear, etc.?

I'd also like to hear reviews - seems like a tricky thing to design right and weld well.

I, too, am wondering. It looks intriguing but it also looks like it wouldn't hold up to much stress.

I have one that I installed late last year.... (9 months ago). To date, no issues. It makes so many jobs easier: motor mounts, rod bearings, and anything down below so much easier to access/repair.

Did the crossmember affect your car's handling?

I have not noticed any difference in handling in daily driver conditions. I do not track this car.

How does it make engine mounts easier?

You can pull one side off at a time...while still supporting the engine.

I put one in the race car a couple years ago and think it's great. I notice no difference in handling or structural integrity, and it gets pounded on pretty good hopping curbs.(per my avatar) No issues with welds or the bolts coming loose (they are on my every event tech checklist, too!). It makes replacing rod bearings for preventitive maintenence easy and makes the oil pan gasket easy. The center piece is tapered top to bottom just a bit, so that when the car sags after it's removed you can easily push it up into place with a floor jack. It's pretty well thought out, IMO. I'm not sure you take a street driver apart often enought to warrant the cost, but maybe you do. It would be cheaper to buy an an engine cross brace for a one-time project
Cheers

Can it support the motor with the center out, or do you still need to have something to hold the motor from the top?

Yes. The motor is supported with the middle section out....thing of beauty.

I think the main beauty of the 3-piece crossmember has not been mentioned yet: no need to disconnect the control arms. That just makes the whole crossmember removal so much more of a pain for me.

Regarding tapered ends, that's clever.

Plus no re-alignment! I'm really digging this piece...too bad it's $300 plus the shipping of the core.
