Default removable roof, locking

I took the roof off my 1987 944, and now the back part does not hold down. What holds back down and how

I'm beting power. You need to cycle the power switch with ingmition on but motor off. This will reengage the struts on the back of the top that opens it and closes it.

The switch on the console does nothing. I powered the motor direct and no parts moved. I believe the connection from the motor to the roof may be broken. Any thoughts.

Can you hear the motor run but the cable doesn't spin? If this is the case then you may need to tighten the slip clutch at the rear by the motor. Tighten it just enough to get it to move, if you tighten it too much the plastic gears will strip.
