Auto-x insurance
Since I don't see many post on the auto-x forum I'll post it here. I have State Farm now and I don't think that they cover any kind of timed event.
Is there any insurance company that will insure my car during a auto-x. Even if it is only for the 1 day. I know that the track is set up to be safe, but I'd rather not take any chances.

Its a good question,
I always thought auto-x's were covered, but the whole timed event could throw you off. I have never seen a car totaled at an auto-x but it is possible.
Does anyone here know if there policy covers this?

I have heard that some insurance companies actually condone autox.
The best thing to do is the check your policy, and call the company, asking for this info "for a friend" of course....

Bryans this topic came up between some people i was talking with at the last local PCA autox here in SD... And what an insurance broker (also a member) said was that as long as you have an instructor in the car u are insured because its "Driver Training" but as soon as you are out on the track alone you are out of luck..... So, just be carefull on the timed laps...

They had a topic about this a while back where someone was running on a track at a DE, by himself. He wrecked his car and the insurance company at first did not want to cover it but did eventually because he was not racing wheel to wheel. He was not actually racing against other cars on the track so he was covered. But like others have said read the fine print of your policy.

Yeah, I remember a post where someone received notice from a company that they were no longer supporting DE's. I haven't checked to see if USAA still does. I imagine someone could possibly make some money with an insurance company focused towards solely autoX and DE's. Although, performance parts are expensive to replace .

Time Trials are autocrosses on a big track.
From what I've gathered, there are basically three types of "DE coverage:"
1. The insurance will cover all crashes you incurr at a DE
2. The insurance company will cover only the first track incident.
3. The insurance company will NOT cover ANY track incidents.
You have to check your policy to know what your insurance company's stance is on this.

Well, my policy is on its way. They couldn't fax it, they had to mail it. As long as its not ups ground I guess I should be done going through it by next year.
Maybe I'll have my car ready by then too.
