Default Tbelt tension question.

Clarks garage says to turn the tension roller counter clockwise to tighten the belt. I have always turned it clockwise because it makes sense to me that way.

It seems like if I were to turn it CCW the roller would be super close to the water pump roller.

.... ?? I don't know. Just confused.

I did the belts on a friends 84 and it wasn't that close. At least nothing that made me stop and think "hey, is this right?"

Which way did you turn it? CCW?

Better yet, does anyone have a picture of it straight on?

Jeez...I don't remember. Looking at pictures of eccentric roller cars, CW makes sense, not CCW. Also the Arnnworx instructions (check www.arnnworx.com) say that CW is to tighten and CCW is to loosen tension.

CW should work. That's what I remember doing on my car.

I've been thinking that if I were to tighten with a CCW it would give more surface area of the belt on the water pump roller by pulling it around more.
But CCW also made me thing that I would overstress the stud, and the tension roller may be too close to the WP.

EDIT:
I found what it says in the shop manual and it seems to like CCW. Hmm....
Does anyone here tighten CCW? The picture in the shop manual is definitely different than mine. I'm may be changing my setup soon.

I thought it was counterclockwise so that the belt is spinning it the same direction it was tensioned so that there is less chance of it comming loose.? not sure , this is what I tought.

If anyone has any more input I would appreciate it. But, it looks like I will be changing the orientation of my tension roller.

Thanks.

Ok, Ok, one last bump. I promise!
Anyone who knows which way they turned it, just let me know. I'm just curious who has done what.

I'll be using CCW either way, though.
