Default What to do in Wash DC next week?

I'll be in the DC area next week for training. Arrive Monday about 2:00pm, I'll also have Tuesday and Wednesday nights free after 5:00 or so. Staying near the Tysons Corner mall. Any recommendations?

Whoops, wrong forum. Someone want to move this to Off Topic? Please?

It's a bit of a drive/cab, but there is an annex to the Air & Space Museum near Dulles Airport that is outstanding. Indoor display of SR71, 707, Enola Gay and Space Shuttle. Much bigger than the DC one.

If you like Burgers - go to Five Guys - the one I go to when I'm back in NoVA is located in Herndon, VA (there maybe one located near Tyson's Corner). It is the best burgers for the money in DC and likely the nation. If you have peanut or legume allergies don't even go near the place b/c they fry their fries in peanut oil - and it permeates the entire place.

2nd the five guys idea for food... they are the best! There is one in tysons corner mall near the AMC theaters. Greg is also right that the air and space museum in chantilly is worth the trip. They have a shuttle bus that runs to the museum, Im just not sure of the details on when and where it runs.

It looks like the museum closes at 5:30, so I'll have to try to do that Monday, I'll probably only get 2-2.5 hours to look around, not nearly enough time.

I'm always up for a good burger so I'll try 5 guys.

One of the attractions I enjoyed most in Washington was Ford's Theater and the Peterson House across the street (Where President Lincoln was shot and taken afterwards to die). Excellent museum in the basement of Ford's Theater (all free) on F street. See the top hat he was wearing, the pistol that killed him, the knife that slashed Rathburn........
Air and Space museum of the Smithsonian (on the mall) has John Glenn's capsule, Chuck Yeager's Glamorus Glynnis (first to fly faster than the spped of sound) and tons more

The word spread about Five Guys that they opened one in Olathe, KS about 10 mins from me!!! Must have been all the Execs from Sprint heading to Reston and eating there and wanting to have the same food here. Hip Hip Hooray.

This message is intended to reach the directed audience and note that consumption of too much Five Guys burgers and their delicious peanut oil fried french potaties can lead to elevated levels of cholesterol / blood pressure, and pants not fitting anymore.

Kurt - how about you hooking us up with some Leinenkugel's - just up the road from you in Chippewa Falls. Sunset Wheat is my favorite carbonated alcoholic beverage.

+10! Best place for pitchers and deep fried mozzarella sticks, and this time of year it's not as painfully crammed with Hoya undergrads. When I was one, I was there more often than not.

Man I miss DC. It's also the first place I every got to ride in a 944, back in '87.
