So I am on hold for parts at Paul Miller Porsche in NJ and the recording on hold invites me to come drive the Boxter with it's powerful V6 engine.... great.... impressive.

That's just plain retarded.
I'm in sales...Rule #1 is "Know your product".

The day of the Porsche enthusiast seems dead...used to be you could select your gear ratios at the dealer, now the main options are whether you want leather or carbon fiber on your cruise control switch. Do they know the correct engine layout? Definitely a secondary consideration...

Porsche is really resting on their laurels. Continues to crack me up and simultaneously infuriate me when I see their Boxster/Cayenne ads on the back of Excellence mags et al trumpeting their "race-bred" Tequipment doo-dads - for vehicles they have never raced. How many people are still around at PCAG from the golden days of Porsche triumphs at the highest levels of racing? It's getting thinner and thinner for them to use their racing history as a sales point...

YMMV Al

Half the people who buy Boxsters don't even know how many cylinders they have, much less how they're arranged.

Yes, sometimes the sales men are not too in tune with thier products. Make a deal with him if you know more about the Porsche line than him, he'll give you free parts for life. What a pipe dream.
