Post Oil in CBV fittings, leaking turbo?

Hey,

I replaced my old CBV with a newer Bosch variant (the Saab 9000T model, oh the blasphemy) yesterday. The old valve had rather much engine oil on the ports.... how normal is this? Should I get worried? The car/engine should have about 90k miles on it - time for a turbo rebuild?

Thanks!

Sami
There is always some oil there in mine: blow by.
I have no intention to change it as long as the inter cooler is not "flooded".
You might want to check the turbo for wear in the bearings though. If nothing is wrong there, I would leave it and spend the money elsewhere.
Keep checking oil level!!

Hans, thanks for the heads up - and no worries, I wouldn't even be able to afford a new turbo at the moment, so even if this one would blow a bit too much oil it'd just have to do

Tommy, I thought I would, but apparently they couldn't complete the alignment job today. Now I have to figure out a way to get to the shop first thing in the morning...

Sami, you can also remove the nose panel and carefully take out the intercooler to clean it out with a mild detergent and water, eliminating the oil residue from 90K miles of use.

Make sure to dry it fully before replacing it.

Thanks Tommy!

You could say it's an unusual sight, eh? Unlike topless girls on Spanish beaches this time of year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />
