Post Ignition Switch tumbler removal

I'm trying to remove the Ignition Switch tumbler and replace it with a good
used one. The manual says I should drill out the column lock mount bolts.
Is there an easier way to get the tumbler out? I tried drilling for several
mm and still no release.
Anyone done this?
TIA

Ok, what car did you steal now? Use a larger diameter drill-bit and drill deeper...

I can see the point, make it hard to steal. But really!
I'll try after we get back from Star Wars...
