Just checked mine - Born on 7/82, and last five digits of VIN are 52514.

Not all 83s had manual steering. It was an option. Fortunately, my car had that option! However, 83 was the only year that manual steering was offered.

I have VIN 452143 with a build date of 6/82--thats just 121 cars before Turbokev--wonder what the daily line rate was in '82. BTW mine had 160MPH speedo, embossed door panels and manual sunroof--I think it had manual steering originally but was converted by the time I bought it.

My car was made in 5/83, so it's a pretty late 83'. Still has manual steering and the only time I notice is pulling around my brother's car to park.
