Post question about 944

i found a 944 that i am wondering about. dealer was not there when i looked at the car. seems to have been sitting for a while, with some crumpled damage to drive side front fender and light. it is a turbo model. what does these go for?

What year is the car and did the dealer do a pre-purchase inspection? If there was an inspection, what were the results?

well, no, he said he bought it from someone after it sat for a couple years. he said he replace the fuel filter and got it running. but he tried to start it a few days ago, and it wouldnt start. he wants 800 for it. he said he just doesnt want to do anything with it.

How do you know it's a turbo? If it has the turbo styling, that doesn't mean a lot. I have an n/a with the turbo nose and valence. Fiberglass does not a turbo make. Get the VIN and run a carfax. That should at least give you enough info to see if you want to persue it farther.

If you really want a project, $800 doesn't seem like a bad price for a Turbo.

were you planning a 'project' and would you be doing the work yourself?

and assuming you are...

are you willing to possibly put more money into the car than it is worth (like many of us have)...you know...a 'project'

if you find out that it is junk after you buy it...what can you sell it for?

without really knowing the truth about the car (and the dealer doesn't know it either) this could be risky...unless you already have a wrecked turbo and lots of tools
