Default Porsche Paint!

So i am looking to repaint my car and I am going to do it myself.

But not sure what color to ask for. Its a dark blue.

Someone told me its a "Copenhagen Blue" not sure if thats correct but would appreciate your help.

Even if its not exact just something I can tell the people at the local paint shop!

Alright thanks.... I kinda looked at some porsche colors and i think it might be a midnight blue.

Does anyone know how much paint it will take?

I dont think it should take much more then one gallon.

for just the exterior a gallon should be good, if youre ordering thru paintscratch you may want to get another quart or so just in case or for touchup stuff later

Depends what type of paint you use. If you use a 2 step paint it may take a total of 3 quarts (2 quarts color and 1 qt clear). If you just use Acrylic Enamel it may take 3-4 quarts depending on how many coats you plan to lay on. make sure you spray the car with primer sealer so you wont get color bleeding and any other headaches. Epoxy Primer Sealer is one of the best.

If it is a factory color, the code will be under the carpet right inside where your tail lights are.

You can always get a Cardex to find out the original color.

from the inside of the hatch, looking towards the back of the car, pull the carpet away from the back of the car and there is a sticker with the paint codes (and option codes). Google search for "Porsche paint codes" or "Porsche option codes" and there are tables you can search to see what the paint color is. From there, get touch up paint from the dealer and have a bodyshop match it, or they might be able to match it with just the name.

whenever I paint a car, I get a gallon...it never hurts to have too much than not enough. this way, if a panel turns out ****ty, you've got the extra paint to respray it.

I don't trust going back and getting a quart mixed up for me either as you may face some blending issues.

my 2 cents.

thats why id order the quart at the same time as the gallon, they will just mix a little bit more in the same batch.

No they won't, it will be mixed in a separate qt can...just as the gallon will be mixed in a gallon can. If you want it to be exactly the same you need to mix it all together after you buy it. This is called "boxing". I can't remember the last time I saw so much misinformation in one thread. The o.p. would serve himself well by using the search function.

so even if you said at paintscratch "i want a gallon and a quart in the same order" they would make 2 batches?

wtf?
