People didn't seem to stare my ex ocean blue 944S that much... but once an older guy came over at a gas station and asked me if it's a race car (recaros, harness bar and red 4pt belts probably gave that impression...)

The graphite 951 on the other hand seems to gather looks like there's no tomorrow. It's fun, except that I really need to keep off the accelerator - I don't need any more attention than I'm already getting

With our introverted Finnish society, getting actual compliments / questions from strangers is pretty uncommon no matter how nice car you have (esp. if it looks expensive)

Lots of looks(even when it is dirty). Lots of . Someone even left a business card on the windshield one night with a note "Is it for sale, if so, please call me". I must say that most people seem amazed that it is an 86 with a tick over 100K on the clock.

all the friggin time

and driving a vintage porsche to school (5 years ago when i was in high school), my god.. the whole damn school saw the car and gathered around it (talk about me gettin paranoid!) she still gets looks to this day. from everyone that sees it.

the absolute best are the little kids. you just see there eyes light up in awe, and tug on their daddies shirt 'whats that?' or looking at it and never even noticing the newer bmws etc around, and reading their mouths 'wow thats a pretty car!'
i think its that they havent been exposed to whats in style or whatever and can appreciate beauty for beauty, and not get hung up on the latest craze. plus, to see their faces light up in its self is a cool thing. what can i say, kids are great. but especially over a porsche thats 22 years older than me!?!?.. now thats just somthing special.

it shows you that no matter what model, no matter how old or new... porsches are timless and can bridge generations.

I was without my car for about 2 months (timing belt) and I was driving a mini-van around. That break gave me the opportunity to notice just how many people do look at the car.

I have had the, "is it a Ferrari?". I have had the, "ohhhhh - a new Porsche". I also tend to hear "Porsche conversations" going on between usually some older gentleman and other random guys - these conversations are sparked by them seeing my car obviously. I once came out of a restaurant and had a sticky note on the window that said "GREAT CAR!!!". I saved the note - it's with all my receipts.

I have a question......anyone else notice, when talking to younger people about your car, that almost everyone of them "has/had an uncle who has a 911" (or other Porsche)??? I get that one alllll the time!! It's like the "One time, at band camp...." quote. As soon as I start talking about the car with younger fellows (not to be confused with Brian Fellow from Brian Fellow's Safari Planet) - they alway bring out the "One time, my uncle did X with his Porsche...". What's that all about??

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm out with my fiance and we're walking back towards my car, and someone nearby notices the car. They always say "Nice car!" to my fiance. They just assume it's his!

Totally annoying.

These cars get looks all the time. Every time I take the turbo cab out it gets interested looks at stoplights from people of all ages. I particularly like that it just says "turbo" on the rear panel and most people don't have a clue that it's a Porsche.

I must admit though, that after getting the S2 cabrio and ultimately the turbo cab, I kind of took the '83NA's looks for granted until last year when I was out on my second or third date with this girl, and she leaned on the door as we were getting back to the car and said "Is this a Porsche?"

Heck, with all the 944 bashing I've endured since I bought it in 1994 that brought a smile to my face. "Yeah," I replied, "it's a Porsche."

I have gotten the "Is it a Ferrari" a few times and I just look and laugh... What most people seem to be so suprised about is that me (a 19 year old) is driving a car like that... They just don't understand.....

I had somebody at a gas station ask me " Is that one of them new 911's?" I almost wet myself.

RobbyK, that red tag under your name looks good.

On my way back from buying the car the sales manager from Champion Porsche pulled up next to me at a light in a Boxster and proceeded to make me follow him back to the dealership so he could check it out. Lots of people look at the car and give thumbs-up and what not, however I still find myself looking at it more than anyone else :-)

How many of you can not help but to look back at your car when you are walking away from it?

I get quite a few looks, but i get used to it after a while, then i drive my Volvo for a few days, and i realize how much i miss the attention! At school however, most people only glance at it, i can see them look at it, but they dont want to give me the pleasure of a real look. most of them are ignorent and assume its worth lots of cash, and my parents bought it for me. whatever.
