Question can't open passenger door from the outside

Hi, i'm a new owner of a porsche 944 and I have a problem with the passenger door. The door won't open from the outside but it will open from the inside. I took off the door panel I took the locking system apart as far as I could and couldnt figure out how it worked. I didnt find anything in the shop manual. Does anybody know how to fix this problem. I could use some help!

Thanks!

This happened to my driver side door. Well I did it on accident becuase I was playing around with the handle. Anyway, if you loosen the handle off of the door, then poke a flashlight behind the handle, you should see a longish white plastic clip thing. The clip will be either unhooked off of the door pull(witch is why you can't open it from the outside), or it'll be clipped. If it is clipped, I don't know what to do. But if it is unhooked, just take a long screw driver and push the clip back on (You'll see what it has to clipp onto, it's obvious). It took me a while to get it back hooked up, but be patient.

The linkage is most likely broken. Open up your door panel, and take off your handle, you'll most likely find something broken close to the exterior handle, possibly where the linkage attaches to it.... and its not fun to fix, i've heard people say its easier to do a clutch job than this...

And Welcome to Rennlist!!

Po924S, the white plastic piece is for the lock, not the handle. i just figure that out yesterday. there is however, a metal bar with a black plastic piece on the end that connects the handle to the actual latch, or opening mechanism, what ever its called.

Hahaha, I didn't know what I was thinking when I wrote that post. I wasn't able to unlock or lock my car door, thats what led me to the white piece thing. The white piece is for the locking mechanism, not to open the door. Sorry G_Jacky. But hey, if you ever can't lock or unlock your door, you'll know where to look.

Thanks for the correction jtsporsche. lol.

we all have some of those "what the hell was i thinking/doing moments.

but yeah, assuming you can lock and unlock your door from the outside, leave the white piece alone.
was this happening when you first got the car?
