yeah i've gotta admit, $100 does seem a little high. i don't mind if that's where everyone's going but isn't that on the high side for dyno days?

Dan,

Deman's dyno is the best dyno you can get...because of the fact that you pop of the wheels and bolt directly to the hub. It's called a dynapack...

I'm also partial to going to Deman because that is where I had my base-line dyno pull done a year or so ago and thus it would be great to be able to compare numbers on the same dyno with the same dyno operators.

Another reason for Deman...they know Porsche's...

Once we have enough people (or the number of people coming in tapers off), I'll talk to Mustangmagic and see what the deal is...I'll let you know right now though, my bias is strongly towards Deman.

I was planning on sending it out tomorrow, but after reading the NNJ site it appears they fill up after the first day. Maybe someone from NNJ can tell me if I still have a shot, or shouldn’t bother at this point.

Dan, is the $75 quote for a group run or is that their standard price?

I would prefer mustang magic. I’ve heard good things (no personal experience), they’re cheaper, and for me it’s closer. Either way I’m still in.

Adrial, ask if they have experience with 944’s when you call. I understand setup time may be an issue if they’re unfamiliar.

John, you could email NNJR and ask...I dont know who specifically but I imagine its on the website somewhere. The DE chairperson perhaps?

Their standard rate is actually $100 for 2 runs and $25 for every run after that (found on their website). The $75 rate is for that specific dyno day...where anybody can show up and get 3 pulls for $75...that likely does not include an a/f chart which is as important if not more important than the actual hp/torque numbers.

Even more importantly than setup time if they've never done a 944 before is safety...do they know how to strap the car down without damaging anything??? and more importantly without the car flying away...So I will definetely ask that.

All good questions to ask. A/F chart is a must, boost would be nice. I would also be interested to know if they strap to the rear bumper, since mine is fiberglass.

BTW…... We will get to see a live comparison of Guru MAP vs. autothority MAF, on the same dyno leveling any conditions.

Dan, you still have a k26/6?

That'll be a great comparison to see though...new fancy shmancy stuff vs. the old way.

I don't think Dan has that massive 3" exhaust you have John.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

its 3am and i am at RPM covered in paint preparing our new shop so i have to be quick.

that $75 includes the a/f chart according to their website, they are somewhat familiar with porsche, they are the dyno we will be using for our 934 replica and we will be using for our supercharged m5 when it comes back.

the $75 is just for that day when anyone can walk in but they may give us our own day for the same price with enough interest.

also the setup time between pulls should be quicker since you dont need to deal with bolting on wheels etc.

back to the new shop to inhale more paint fumes! (damn mask makes my glasses fog up when i breathe

I very likely will be there and can help interpret the results and help with aftermarket tuning devices. I used Rick's dyno to tune my 930 Turbo this spring (641hp) The Dynapack dyno is one of the latest dynos that operates very much like an engine dyno where the dyno controls the car. It is impossible to overrev the car on the dyno unless you have more than the Dyno rated torque which for Rick's I believe is 1200 ft/lb. It is a great tuning device. You will get graphs of HP, Torque, A/F, boost, G force in acceleration, etc. The dyno can also output tables with the raw data. The dyno produces repeatable results because there is no slip in the wheels on a roller. It does take a little bit more for setup time since the rear wheels need to come off.

Damian, I counted 9 in this thread, 1 from the 996 board, 1 from the e-mail list and 1 from 968.net...so unless I missed anybody we're up to 12 possibilities....all of which depend on date.

I'll get that straightened out tuesday probably.

Geoffrey, that would be great!
Maybe I saw your car there.

EDIT:

I was thinking...another option might be to do it sooner rather than later? I'll be doing a big rod bearings service...so my plan was to do the dyno after that...but that might not happen for a little while because I still need to find a suspension...so who here would have a problem with doing it early June? June 7th or 14th?

Dan, do you think you'll have the MAP kit in hand by then?
