I just had my 993 Cup 2's refinished (beautiful job ...pics tomorrow) and am having the tires mounted Monday (a whole other story) and am wondering how long I should wait before putting a coat of wax on them? I want to do this before I remount them because it is much easier. Also I am worried about my wheels being scratched from having the tires mounted.....I have EMT tires (runflats) and they are very difficult to mount because they are sooooo stiff.....any ideas? Thanks.

I just had the front end of my 968 refinished after a Lincoln Navigator decided to resytle it by backing into me... and was told to wait 90 days before waxing it. I would think that this would apply to your situation as well.

You have to wait long enough for all the solvents to evaporate from the paint so it fully hardens. This will vary based upon the type of paint used and the climate. Since it's probably cold in Canada this time of year, the paint my not even fully cure and harden properly. I'd keep the car indoors with a heater near those wheels at night to really bake the paint.

My suggestion is you take the tires to somebody that shows a lot of respect for your car. They will be very careful with the mounting.
Take the tires to the corner discount tire store and they will get the job done quickly and cheaply and ruin the finish.
I know this is a no-brainer but sometimes I have to remind myself of the you-get-what-you-pay-for axiom. Especially when my 944 needs something and the mortgage & tuition bill are due.
