Default 928 Instrument cluster?

I like the late 928 instrument clusters, and always thought they should have put them in 968s, my question is, since early 928s and 85.5+ 944s shared the same cluster, would it even be possible to transplant a late 928 cluster in a 944 or 968? if so what would it involve?

Are you sure about this? I have an 84 928S and the gauge cluster does not fit.

Oh, well i've never compared the clusters in person, i have just seen pictures, and the early 928s look the same as later 944s. Does anyone know about both?

I'd imagine that the digital readout is tied to the DME.

This is a related question; can you swap out an 85 mph speedo in a MY 81 928 for a late 944 speedo?
Hhmmm!!!! can anybody tell me why it wouldn't work? Where do these calibrate at; cluster or sending unit on tranny?
