Default Milkshake won't go away!!

The engine in my '87 924S overheated this last spring and I discovered milkshake (TOTAL!) in my coolant and oil. I removed the oil cooler and found that it had a leak. I replaced the cooler and seals, flushed both sets of fluids twice, and finally got the car off the jackstands (had to replace the O2 sensor, Cat Back, put on 944 Turbo sway bar, new horn, plug wires and plugs, refinished the wheels, etc. You know...). Now, I'm seeing milkshake in the coolant, but not in the oil. My oil level appears to be holding, but the dipstick doesn't really show much in the way of gradients.

Could this be residual oil, or am I screwed? Anybody have experience with this kind of fix-failure?

no necc. the head gasket. The cooler itself is known to fail and leak, not just the seals. Headgasket is normaly coolant in the oil.

If you didn't flush it, it would contaminate. Flush it (drain and fill) and then try again. Watch your oil too.

How much crud are you seeing in the coolant? If it's just a bit in the reservoir, it's probably residue. When my cooler seals were replaced, I had to flush it several times with detergents and stuff to get all the goo out of it.

I had a similar problem in my Saab. The milshake, for me, was from air being injected into the oil system from the PCV valve malfunctioning.
