With deep regret, same post in the member for sale forum.

1989 Porsche 944S2. Car has 147,000 miles. 3rd owner, all PCA members. I have receipts that show an excellent maintenance history. Car runs very strong and looks great. Interior is in good condition, a little wear and tear on the driver and passenger seats. Exterior is in good condition, paint looks nice, but there are some rock chips in front and on the side near the stone guards.

Previous owner had some body work completed on front valence, so the paint looks a little different on close inspection, but it looks great to the casual observer.

New tires last year, new rear brakes, updated stereo w/iPod adapter. Installed Russell Barry MAXHPkit.

A/C probably needs a recharge, the left power sunroof motor is out, and there is a small leak in the passenger side of the rear transaxle. Only used Mobil 1 synthetic oil with regular oil changes. $6000 obo. Car is located in Spokane, WA.

I'm motivated to sell because I have to, not because I want to.

Email for more pictures or any other detail. Thanks.

That's an incredibly good price. If you were in NY, and your timing was better, I would be picking that up tomorrow...

that puts a 968 closer to my reach. too bad i will take a bath on my S2 if i do get a 968.

lets see, S2 transmission $1000, S2 motor and wiring $3000, so the S2/951 body and brakes etc is only $2000 at this price. Can you get a 951/S2 roller for under $2000? Yes, look at the OP.

I don't know what you mean by "Yea, look at the OP", but I seriously hope your post isn't againt his selling of the car for such price.

Because how you've broken your numbers down, you have VERY quickly forgotten the time it takes to source said parts (951/S2 roller, S2 motor/trans), the time it takes to get said parts, and the time it takes (of yours) to install said parts. And even then you have a mismatched frankenstein car built from other vehicles. I'm sorry, but a factory stock S2 will bring more money then a car with a motor that's been swapped from another S2. And as far as I'm concerned, my time is worth quite a bit to me...so factor that in to your price breakdown.

But if we're speaking of you doing such thing (sourcing a roller and buying a motor/trans for it), you will have to factor in the dearly cost of a shop doing it. Your calculations are now severly skewed!

aplcr- Very nice looking car and a HELL of a steal at that price. It's almost too good to be true. Car looks very nice in the photos (more representative of a $7500-8000 car). Goodluck with the sale!

no my apology. I was saying/asking do you think you can get a S2 roller for $2000? The answer is yes, the OP is a $2000 roller with all the work done for you. Is $2000 for a roller fair? Heck yes since all the work of getting a roller, adding a motor and trans has been done already by the factory.

THIS is that deal that people are always looking for but that only seems to be legend.

Good luck on the sale. 6 mos from now it'd already be in my driveway.

with what he is asking for the car, there is no value to my car. might as well throw in teh towel and gut my interior and make mine a dedicated track car.

im working on something else, and if it works out - ROAD TRIP!! then there will be two great deals on S2s here.

Default More Pics, additional information

The clutch was replaced by Paul Weir at 106,236 miles.

Lief at Autowerks Northwest in Woodinville did most of my work for the previous owner. The balance shaft belt was in February of '06 at 135,375 miles. The timing belt was at 131,034 miles. The VIN # is WPOAB2944KN452409.

At 137,000 I had the engine tuned up, rear brakes done, radiator fan switch, and the power steering belt changed.

Regular oil changes.

Bump for an incredible deal - and close to me, too, darn it. If it has option code 220, please don't tell me!!! I thought I "stole" my S2 for $4K down here in Boise this past spring - but after complete front engine maintenance, new clutch, etc. my "needs love" car doesn't look like such a bargain compared to this one. Still, I'm having fun, getting a good 16 valve education, and the satisfaction of saving a good car - no regrets.

Good luck with your sale. Somebody please give this one a good home!

note to prospective buyers, note the vin decal on the front fender.

some overzealous detailer took them off my car. once off i dont think they can be replaced, and replacement fenders dont have them.
