I'm going to sneak the VIN number off it and run a carfax, just incase.
Good idea Lego! I will get an independant person to ask how much - thing is, he doesn't really have it for sale and drives it like once a month - so it's not like someone can just walk up and ask. I'll have to pick the right time.
I just can't get that thought (of the feeling I had when he ran it up to 6700 grand) out of my head. Whoooooosh!!! It's just so fast!!

Here's the way I would see it if it were me. You paid 11,000 for the S plus 6,000 fixing it up. So if you're going to trade in your car and pay 5,000 on top of that, it's kind of like buying a 951 for 22,000. Now of course you can't recoup all of your costs of fixing up the S, but if you've put that much money into it you've increased its value. That's why I say I wouldn't go much higher than 3,000 cash if you're trading in that car, and I would only do it if the car is in tip top condition (like you say it is). This also assumes your car is in as good condition as you say it is.

Definitely run the VIN, especially if you're worried about it being wrecked.
Definitely have a different mechanic inspect it.
You should be able to trick the airbag sensor into going off.
There's probably a circuit that's closed by the presence of a functional airbag, just close it elsewhere.
Turbos are fun. TurboSs are even more fun.

An 89 951 with only 65,000 klms, owned by a P-car wrench, $6000 repaint .... hmmmmm
I've been helping a guy out to find a 951S and the best one I drove recently - one owner, 95,000 klm, well maintained was asking C$24,500. I heard of another for sale with around 70,000 klms rumoured to be asking C$25,000. And yet another one with 170,000 klm asking C$22,000.
The thing about the 951S is that although it is a relatively rare model - it is a Porsche that looks identical to a regular 951. It competes in a tough bracket - a car that only those in the "know" may want. And that probably means it will take time to sell.
Get a "cash price" from him on the car. Off the top, I'd say he wasn't too far off the mark takin your 944S + C$8K. You're likely correct that he would find it easier to sell your car off his lot too.
