Thumbs up edit- oil pan bolts located.

Well I lost about 5 or 6 bolts on the road the other day, hence the massive oil leak. The remaining bolts were able to be loosened by hand..YIKES!!
I would like to get a complete set, as well as a indicicator of bolt locations, I believe there are 3 different sizes(lengths), but the head size is the same ??
I'd like to get them before this weekend if possible...

There are 4 at the corners that are quite long, and the rest are shorter. All of them are M6 (10mm head).

Anyone have PET handy to get the proper lengths?

Once you have the sizes, try your local hardware store. They usually stock M6 bolts, since they are common.

Ok, so I was wrong about the oil filter or oil sender, but it was in fact something simple.

Note that the oil pan gasket has little aluminum sleeves in the holes where the bolts go though. If the gasket got pushed outside the block/pan boundary, make sure none of the little aluminum sleeves fell out.

If I'm reading PET right, it looks like 18 M6x25 bolts and 4 M6x50 bolts. Appropriate washers on each one.

Gasket is still in place- oil spewing developed when the seal let loose, I have no idea how loong the bolts were loose- its not something I usually checked (until NOW that is!!)The oilpan is still on, but I'm missing several bolts Bryan, But I'll double check the alum. sleeves are there.
I believe they are- I can see some of them from the side view of the pan..

I'm wondering how you can see the aluminum sleeves from the side when they are surrounded by the seal. How loose is that pan?

I'm sure that once the repair is finished, you'll be asking this question (I am certainly interested myself):

Why did these come loose and fall off?

It's not like you recently purchased the car (where someone else could have messed this up), and it does not sound like you (or a mechanic working for you) did any recent work to the oil pan. Could these have been coming loose for more than the five years you have owned this car?

It would never occur to me to check these as a regular maintenance item, unless I had a major leak like you do.

Chris , Glad you found your problem and it was a cheap fix! I guess a big puddle of M1 was your biggest expense.

If you don't find them locally, you might give Ian Riley a call, I would bet he has a handful of them he could send you cheap. His number is 954-968-3766.

No financial interest in this, blah blah, blah...

Regards,

I got them- and some blue Loctite at Home hardware- $11.01 total. I'll button it back together just to see if thats it.I'm pretty sure it is tho.

Project 944.. I passed on the Zermatt 944 today- looking at a different one tomorrow- Much nicer shape..inside and out- mech up to snuff.

The one I passed on would make an excellent track car- runs solid, good clutch, exterior was a 6-7, Interior was a 3 or 4. If someone wants his number- let me know - I would have offered 1400. no more.
