Post Can anyone help? I need a new wastegate!!! I'm in twouble!

Guys I think I'm gonna need your help here...

The clutch is 99% done on my car. The only problem is when they removed the wastegate - the fused bolts had to be blowtorched and grinded out.

They estimated about $100cdn for a milling guy to drill and re-thread the old wastgate. Well I got a call saying they want $400+ !!

I could buy a NEW wastegate for that much!!!!

Needless to say - does ANYONE have a used wastegate they are willing to sell & ship to me pronto? I can only afford $100-200cdn for this, as I've already had to borrow money from the bank of mom to pay for the clutch.

The car had been in the shop for 1 week now, and IT'S KILLING me not to drive it. Especially with todays fine weather.

BTW - Randy_J saw ya drivin' up marine today! NICE CAR!!!

Markus Blaszak, in the Toronto area is a well reputed wastegate rebuilder for well below what you've been quoted.

Thanks Luis - I just got off the phone with him. What a great guy. Anyways, it's about $250 for a complete rebuilt wastgate, not including shipping, and of course, it would take about a week to get it.

If none of the local wreckers have a good wastegate, or if no one from rennlist can sell me one faster/cheaper - then I might just go with Markus again. (I've got his rebuilt arms on my car!)

Weird, I just pulled my wastegate off this weekend. What a job. I spent a good hour in against the media blasting booth and infront of a mill working the breakoffs out. It is soaking in oil over night. It should take about another hour. Then off to powder coat it.

I got one from a engine burn 951. Let me know the parts you need and I will get one to you for $75 plus shipping. I am assuming you need just the wastegate. I should have the piping that goes with it if you need it.

Thanks Lego!

I'm still waiting for a phone call - Looks like I may have one delivered for free, but if that doesn't pan out I'll call you next.

Thanks for your help guys!! A friend came through with flying colours and I got a 22,000km complete OEM exhaust (inlcuding wastegate) to replace my 250,000km leaky, ugly oem exhaust.

Thank you guys for all your help / offers.
