Default looking for discontinued part: camshaft key

So I've tried a couple online stores, and they either dont stock this part anymore or it will take weeks to get from germany. and i dont want to pay 30$ shipping on a $2 part.

im hoping someone out there has a old camshaft with one of these keys still in it that they can just throw in an envelope with a stamp and send it my way.

It has pretty much brought my project to a hault...

the part number is 900 117 045 00

its just a little chunk of metal that goes into a notch on the camshaft to keep the cam gear aligned.

let me know if you have an extra and how much you want for it. thanks

Hey Brent,

Are you talking about the woodruff key? I found one at the local harware store in the bolt/nut aisle. I have one on an extra cam tower that I will give to you -- but I won't be able to dissassemble till Mon ot Tues next week. If you are interested pm your addy.

If they don't have one, most nut and bolt stores carry "key stock" in 12 inch lengths and you can cut your own.

ohhhhh

would lowes have it?

in PET it just says "Key 4 x 4" as the description. im guessing that means the height and width in mm?

I can figure out the length obviously. but yeah i think i will just try to do that. hopefully its as strong as the stock piece... i wouldnt want that thing sheering off in there.

Most keys are not hardened. If your Lowe's has all those little bins of misc stuff they might surprise you.

It's not a true woodruff key. It's an oblong plug that from what I've seen is pretty unique. I doubt you will find one at a hardware store or auto supply. You might have to make your own or ask for a used one here.
