Default more progress pics on my engine rebuild

finally got all the seals and gaskets i needed so i got some more work done on this thing today.

i seem to be missing the 3 bolts that hold this back cover on... i had 3 bolts that i thought were the ones but they are too long... so it looks like i might be running to lowes for those..

is this a proper way to lube these things? or should i have them flipped the other way? or should i have the little hole on the side facing up? i forget

i just had the oil pan hot tanked. im thinking i might hit it with a wire brush drill bit and shine it up a bit. just to get rid of some of the pitting.

i dont plan on ever driving the car in rain/snow ever again so it doesnt seem like it would be pointless

ok so after letting my lifters sit over night i went and tried to check the condition.

on 2 of them when i press down on the cylinder in the center it goes down then immediately pops back up. the other 6 do not move at all. they feel like they are already down. So im guessing they need to be pumped up first? im not sure how i can do this.... any ideas?

the ones that are soft need to soak longer- they have no oil in them yet...see if you can collapse them then put them in the oil and let them draw the oil in through the small oil hole.

wow...that is a very clean motor. I like it a lot and I'm jealous because I wish my motor was half as clean!
