Question Type R Acrua Vs 944S2

What would be a quicker car?? Those Type R's have a crazy redline, prolly no torque. I am thinking they might catch you around 3rd gear??
Any ideas??

The ITR weighs ~2600lbs. That is ~400lbs less than an 944 S2. On the other hand the 944 has way more torque. They are probably actually about equal. Stock vs stock I would bet on the ITR because it comes with CRAZY good suspension stock.

a buddy of mine played around with an ITR last night on the highway in his E36 M3... the M3 is just a SMIDGEN faster than the ITR. So I would have to say that the ITR would beat the S2...they are pretty quick!

Now if you had a 951 on the other hand....

A few years back, had a 3-way standing-start streetdrag with an ITR and a GSR'd CRX in my 968. Got the ITR by 5 cars or so to about 1/3 mile before shutting down. The ITR got the CRX by a few cars.

I had an S2 before the 968, and the 68 feels only slightly faster. It's got more power/torque but is also heavier.

For anyone who's going To flame me for posting this streetdrag story - it was in a secluded industrial area at ~4AM with no other people in sight for miles around. There were 10 people total there: all chose to be there.

In SCCA Solo 2, the S2 is in B-Stock. The Type-R in D-Stock. Recalling from experience, the fast Type-R drivers can be as fast or faster than the S2/68 on very tight courses, but is usually about about a second or so slower. That answer it?

The Integra Type R will have the advantage on a 0-60 mph acceleration (6.0-6.2 seconds for the Type R and 6.5-6.8 seconds for the S2), but then the S2 should slowly catch up (quarter mile in 14.8-15.0 for the Type R and 14.6-14.8 for the S2). The S2 will eat it alive on top end with a 10 mph advantage. This is with equal drivers... So on a 0-100 mph race it should be a drivers race.

This summer I killed a Type R pretty bad on highway with my almost stock 951... So I don't worry about the S2 above 100 mph.

Good luck

What he said - those little Type R's are surprising - but just keep the pedal down, youll overtake him eventually if he gets a better launch.

I don't know if you would pull that hard on an S2 if its an early turbo. The turbo is only about 217hp as the S2 is 208hp. Would it be that big of difference??

Actually I think the S2 might pull on a stock turbo some since the turbo uses the 3.37 final drive gear and the S2 has the 3.89. The power difference isn't big enough to make up for that I think. Although my S2 has the turbo gearbox so that would be a different story. Add something like a computer chip to the turbo and it's all over from there though. I'm not sure if the S2 is a lot heavier or not though.

I meant that considering my personal result about the Type R, I din't worry about the S2 beating the Type R on top end. My english sucks pretty bad...

I never had the chance of racing against a 944 S2. They seem to pull very good with their linear power curve. How does it compare to this video?

That's a very good question. I'm running on the stock chips and there's no visible boost controller. The stock boost gauge indicates 2 BAR at full boost, so I imagine that the only mod is a shimmed wastegate? I don't know how to verify if it's shimmed or not.

Yeah right, compare the torque between those two cars when the engine is kept in the power band and you'll think twice. I did a rolling start with Travis last year before he tricked out his car and despite my being in 4th gear and him being in 3rd [I'm guessing] he destroyed my 968 from a 75 mph rolling start...I might not have lost to him quite as badly had I started in 3rd.
