damn...if I had the money and space, that would be a great candidate for a complete ressurection. I'd strip it down completely, respray (probably keep the factory color scheme), leather interior, 951 drivetrain swap (maybe with some extra bits and pieces for extra hp), maybe go ***** out with moton shocks, big black brakes up front, 951's in the rear, 18" wheels/tires....

Then realize how dumb that would be and buy a 951, lol

yes and no...I realize that buying a 951 can solve all of life's automotive woes (i hear that with several cheap modifications they can even fly...), I kinda like the idea of building something different

[to any advocats of the "just buy a 951" mentality, I definitely understand where you're ocming from and the logic does make a lot of sense, and I'm jsut kidding around....

i'd love to have a 951 someday]

Something that just sticks out about your first post...why have "big blacks" up front and "951s" in the rear?...

My understanding is that Brembo "Big Blacks" are just big reds coated black....so basically, I'd be looking for the braking performance of a 951 with the Lindsey Racing "Big Black" Big Brake kit. So in other words, improved braking over the factory 951 calipers/pads within the bounds of well-traveled territory.

I feel that this makes more sense than trying to get big brembos at all 4 corners for two reasons
- Lindsey sells a bias valve that's been tested for this setup so no fiddling with brake bias or worry about brake bias being horribly off
- Rear brakes generally don't do as much work as the fronts, so more performance gain to be had in beefing up the fronts

I would upgrade the rears to 951 calipers rather than leaving them stock because I don't think that the stock 1-piston calipers would really be up to the task of keeping up with big 4-pot brembos.

Sorry, that may have been more explanation than you were looking for, but hopefully it makes a little sense

How bad is the windshield crack? Repairable, or would it require replacement?

crack is about 1 foot long starting from passenger side going up at 35 degree angle
it happened when the hood hit the windshield since it has no hood struts
would probably need to be replaced
