Default exhaust gasket question

So i finally got to putting the exhaust back on today, and discovered that the new gaskets that i have are different from the old ones. The holes for the studs are aligned correctly, but the opening for the exhaust hole is smaller on the new ones. Now when i lay the new ones over the headers the hole is exactly the right size, and the old ones are actually too big. So, assuming that the new ones are ok, why would the car have gaskets with too large a hole on it?

Looks to me like the ones you're putting on the the real deal, and the old ones weren't. you're better off with the gaskets that are the right size
