I'm just starting my own conversion now.

I'm no big fan of Chevy or pushrod motors but you just can't deny the bang for the buck factor. Given that fact and the fact that there is already a developed and time tested "kit" to convert the 944 I just couldn't refuse. I too would rather have a Cayenne motor for the swap but I don't think it's worth all the added cost just to be able to keep it German.

Unfortunately the minute you talk about a swap everyone thinks of all the bad jobs they've seen. Well done ones are in the minority because most try to do it cheaply. I know from mine, it ain't cheap!

That what I'm thinking. I'm sure it can be done for at least the same money but probably a lot less than a 3.0 rebuild with turbo conv.

If someone will guarantee good fitment, I'll pay any amount to have this one put in my N/A - no turbo, but it has a lot of low end torque:

I have seen some horrendous v8 swaps. I have the tan one that was at the Fest 2 yrs ago. It is not as cosmetically nice as many of the stock ones, but it was built to run the One Lap and cosmetic money was down the list from go-fast money, but it still looks decent and is a blast to drive. Dont diss the NA guys too bad. I was REALLY impressed to see how fast some of those guys got around the racetrack given the hp and torque they were using. It speaks volumes about the balance and chassis and engineering in what is now a fairly old car.

PS: happy to see us having civil discussions about the v8's. I will be at the fest this year and anyone wanting to take a spin.....er....test drive in mine should come and see me.
