WOW! I'm honored John made this an ADMIN thread. It must have been the shirts I ordered last night. I sure don't need it to plug the top spots for 7 months until the event, but a week or two of prime exposure far in advance could help participation. Mark your calendars..the more the merrier!

Dan, I had a Great time at 944Fest 01 and 02 I'm sure 03 will be even better.
Hey Dan, I just had an idea... If there was enough interest maybe we could get a moble dyno to show up in the area. Your neighbors might not like 20+ wild Porsche's whaling in the afternoon. Just a thought

Man.. what a response so far. 944 Fest '01 was most excellent. If Dan does not mind, it would be killer to see 40 or 50 folks make it. Perhaps the 928 brethern could join us? I have always had a soft spot for one.

Humm.. I better get moving on the 951. It would be it's first showing.

I am not getting rid of the 944 yet. I saw a 964 with a good price, but I don't think that the deal is going to work out. So it looks like I will still be "stuck" with the 944 (That isn't a bad thing).
Oh well, I will definately be there though.

Cool

Funny, perry.. But I believe it was '02 you came to. '01 was up in Cleveland in 2001. We had 11 cars and did the photo shoot at Cleveland Hopkins.
As for the dyno, I thought about it last year, but couldn't manage it. A better bet would be a dyno day. I know of a place up on the FAR east side of Cleveland where a guy has a portable unit. He did mine for $75, (in his shop) but I believe that was the buddy rate. Each car takes at least :30 min once you strap it down, etc, and to make it worth his while we'd have to generate at least 1K. Do the math..IF 10 guys want to try it, that would kill 5 hours and generate $750. plus kill the time for cruising, filming, lawnmower racing, etc. It's just too much to try to cram in one day, when most folks leave early for a long road trip home.
I'd like to take a couple of hours to head to a secluded road and get some quality video of various cars. Maybe we'll do that in the AM. We'll put traffic monitors out with radios and several camera angles. I'll need a vacant parking lot for the slide footage, maybe that one I'll do another day.
It's really tough to please everyone. I invite a whole bunch of folks to these, but when the cars roll out on the cruise, it sort of kills the event for the rest. I'm not sure how I'll manage it, but the focus needs to stay close to the cars.
As for the 928s, we had one with us last year, but he stayed out of the main photo shoot. I'm OK with those guys. As for the 911 guys, well, I'm trying to celebrate our (944) common bond. I hate to exclude anyone, but the 911s are not the reason for the party. They'll park with the Buicks. (wink, wink)
I'm not complaining, but I throw some $$ at this and this year will be no exception. I don't know if I need to say, "you drive a 928 or 911 so you must pay, the 944 guys are free" or charge everyone, or what, but I ain't buying seafood and beer for the entire Porsche lineup. Worth mentioning, last year Perry chipped in and Scott donated his mower winnings to the house. Thanks, guys.
To answer nine-44's question, the cost is free. I host this event at my home each year to bring together my pack of 944 driving pals and celebrate our common bond. Follow this link to see pics from previous events:
Anyway, if you've got a 944, 968 or 924 and are within an acceptable drive, please mark your calendar and be part of the show. I'll do my best to make it worth your trip. If you have any other Porsche, or even a Century, please come and join us.. but remember you'll be a spectator! (except in the Mowercross)

Looking forward to it. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <a href="http://www.dan.pierson.com/" target="_blank">Dan's Webpage</a>

'01, '02, it all runs together. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

No Buick this year, my car will be nestled in the scenic wooded landscape.. dibs on the spot by the big Oak at the bottom of the hill. (firecrackers will be needed to scare the birds away.. no poo poo on my new paint! )

Hmmm....

I'll be back in Tennessee that time of year. My wife and I will finally have a chance to have a nice ceremony in front of my family and friends.

Hopefully i'll be able to slip away after everything is finished. I'll be there for at least 3 weeks, we'll see. I might or might not have a car. Maybe I can find a ride from some of my Tennessee boys (T-town, K-town, Nashvegas, Jcity, The boro, anyone?). If i do have something to drive then anyone in the area would be more than welcome to hitch a ride. I'd really like to work it out so that i could come and meet some of the people that keep my car running. Maybe we could share some fishing stories...

I'm glad John brought this up as an Admin post - I didn't see it, but would love to come down!

However, looking at the SCCA Cendiv calendar, the Cincy Regional Freedom Double Regionals will be that 4-5-6th weekend, as always. So I will be in town with the racecar, if I go run the event! What time is the party? Could we go there after we're done racing, in the afternoon? Would I have to park my Burban with the Buicks, or could we drag the trailer and racecar to a prominent place???

Keep posting those updates, I'm very interested...

Me too! Won't have a car with me though - can't get it to fit in my carry-on. Maybe bring Dad's Vette so we can point and laugh

Dan, I'd like to make the event as well, work schedule permitting. Sounds great.

By the way, I live on the "far east side" of Cleveland... who's the guy you're referring to with the dyno, if you don't mind me asking? I'd love to find a good mechanic nearby. I've taken my car to Autobahn Extremist (Chris Moore) and think he's a great resource, but his place is an hour away.

The guy I used was in Eastlake, I think.. Dynotech motorsports. His unit is Portable so you may see him on the road. the website is:
<a href="http://www.dynotecmotorsports.com/" target="_blank">http://www.dynotecmotorsports.com/</a>
(kind of basic)

and home base is:

Dynotec Motorsports Mobile Chassis Dynamometer
1477 East 361st Street
East Lake 44095
Tel. 440-942-3349
Website: <a href="http://www.dynotecmotorsports.com" target="_blank">http://www.dynotecmotorsports.com</a>

While I don't think he is a Porsche mechanic, per se, he does have an extensive Porsche background and I believe he drives a 928 and has owned several 944 T's. As for a mechanic, if Twinsburg isn't too far for you, Steinels Autoworks is the Porsche Guru in the area.
