Okay, doing a front engine reseal, belt and rollers job on '87 951. Got oil leak, looks like coming from oil pump, so pulling oil pump out.
A couple of questions,
1. What is the crankshaft gear woodruff key? Clarks garage removal instructions says I have to remove this but I'm not sure what it is.
2. In taking the mounting bolts off, 1 bolt is blocked by some unit that holds a roller. Does anyone know what this unit is
. I assume I have to remove that to get the 1 bolt off to remove the oil pump.
I know these questions are vague but hopefully someone has done this before and can explain to me what to do.

The woodruff key is the little piece of metal that sits in the slot on the crankshaft. It's how you line up the the pulley and it keeps the crankshaft from spinning inside the pullet. Just grab it with a pliers and pull it off.
I think the roller is one of timing rollers. You'll need a spanner wrench to hold the roller in place while you pull the bolt.
Good luck!

Hey Ross, I am just about to tackle the same job. It seems that the oil pump cover did not seal properly after the engine rebuild and a small amout of oil is oozing out of the top of the oil pump, just under the water pump. I am going to retorque all the bolts first before removing the pump. Run the engine and see if it still leaks.
Good luck!
