Just curious as to how much (if any) rust is on/in your cars?
Do not include rusting battery trays or those lil' bubbles you have around the headlight washer nozzle!
Maybe it's because my Winter vehicle is a Suzuki Sidekick, or should I say "Rustkick" - but I never hear of rust being a topic for 944 owners. I know we have the galvanized body panels, but these cars MUST rust sometime, no???

Rust? What rust? That 10-year warranty against corrosion that came with our cars was for good reason.
Not a spot of rust on any of my cars, FWIW. Two of them have lived outdoors most of their lives.

I have two small spots, behind the front wheels... getting showered by stones, sand and whatever else is on the road all the time takes its toll.
It's not bad though, all I'd have to do is to get the rust out with a wire brush or something and then put some touch-up paint on it. Pretty good for a car this old!

Only 944/951 I have ever seen with a rust hole on it was Oliver Pinkpanks '88 951, up in Chicago. Other than that, I haven't seen any rusty 944's, and I have seen enough of en to think if it was a problem, I would have seen it.
Just one more reason why I love these cars...

No rust on the 924... been a NJ car for most of its life though. But, I must say that I haven't seen a rusty 924/944 up here either - even the winter driven ones.

Never seen rust on a 944! Even the most beat-up trashed ones!!!
Then again does not rain much out here not to mention snow...
Hey skip you still got that picture of rain? Starting to forget what it looks like..
I have seen plenty of faded paint jobs, cracked dashs, dry rotted tires and hoses though

Unfortunately I have rust. The passenger side strut tower on my early 85 is rusted though. Didn't notice it until after I bought the car and was cleaning the engine bay. It's right where the tower connects to the side of the car. About 2 inchs long and 1/2" wide.
AFAIK there was no accident and it appears it is the weld that rusted- although there is more metal involved now. "dear I think I can fix it with that new welder I've been wanting. Of course just to be sure I need a strut brace".

A 951 I thought about buying had rust on the fender. Before I looked at the car I asked (over the phone) if there was any body damage. He (of course) said no. There is no way to explain the anger I felt when I showed up to look at it. The moonroof also looked like Tyson gave it a few good blows. He went from 12K to 9K real quick, but I decided to RUN away instead.

Before you say "no rust", look CAREFULLY under the carpet at the toeboards on the passenger side, particularly if you ever had rusthrough in the battery area. Rot loves to go there and it is difficult to see. I have fixed two such puppies with repair patches.

No body rust except just around the license plate lights and the the RR quarter where it's damaged, but every gol-dam fastener is corroded. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
