Post Unusual: Car not starting...?

My car won't start and i have checked all of the normal things. It has fuel pressure, the fuel pressure works and is fine. I replaced the fuel pressure relay (carry a spare!) just for good measure. After checking the fuel pressure, i moved to the next obvious cause. I checked the spark and, not surprisingly, there is no spark at the spark plugs. And, strangely enough, there's also no spark getting to the distributor. I replaced the coil, and got no results. I also tried a new DME (ECU) from a friend (Thanks Eric!), and nothing happened. Also, power is getting to the coil, it is just not coming out and to the distributor. If anyone can help, maybe peruse their shop manuals for me, or something, i would appreciate it in an EXTREME manner! Also, this is my first post. Thanks,
-Aston

I assume you've checked the wire from the coil to the distributor for continuity. Is your cambelt okay? Is the rotor on tight?

Sorry I can't suggest more - good luck

Check the grounds near the coil, the one(s) under the dash and the one on top of the bell housing near the flywheel sensors.

Just my 2 cents,

It has been suggested that the flywheel sensors may be the cause of all of this. However, my (useless!) Haynes manual doesn't tell me where ,exactly, these things are. I would really like to check them, but have no clue as to where they are. Does anyone know where they are and how to check them? BTW, the wire coming from the coil is grounded and numerous slots on the DME plug are also grounded. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

p.s. My user name, A-314159, is the first 6 digits of Pi, and my first name is Aston, so i figured A-314159 would work...

Aston,
Any replies?
Something in the air?
I have a 1984 944 (standard) that will not start.
The gas is pumping and I have compression but no spark.
The engine is turning over but not catching.

We replaced the ignition coil and still no spark (we removed the center plug from the distributor cap and checked for spark).
I have replaced all the sparkplugs also.

My neighbor thinks it has to be the ignition unit (brain, D.M.E.) which happens to be a little expensive and no returnable.

I will share my 'gremlin".

I had the same problem, the car would turn over, I was getting spark at the distibutor and coil, I had fuel pressure.

But it wouldnt start.

My solution was to rewire the injectors, at the boot where the wires go into the injector itself.

Heat and time had worn and cracked the insulation inside the silicon boot. Couldnt spot it by looking, had to strip one. But after rewiring them all, I have no more starting problems.

You might also check to insure that your rotor screw hasnt fallen out, leaving the rotor unable to spin. I have also had this happen.
