Sounds like a lot to me, I know the front bar has quite a few parts to it but isnt the rear bar pretty simple? A 968m030 rear install takes about 20min.

I had my bar off in about 10 minutes (front). On in about the same. Haven't messed with the rear but all it is are the center mounts and the drop links, then it's free of the car. Sounds like they took their time.

Tom, I just had a front Weltmeister installed and two hours is right on when the tech has to figure out all of the hardware and make the assembly. And then when everything is in place there is not that much space for tightening the links besides each wheel...I don't know about the rear one.

They definitely took their time. I swapped new drop links in the rear and a KLA sway bar support in the front when I upgraded to turbo sways and it all happened well within two hours -- and we REALLY took our time there.

An hour and a half for the rear bar is WAY too long, I changed my rear shocks and sway bar in an hour and 10mins. (including jacking time). An experienced shop should be able to do it in 25 mins.(plus they have a lift).

Were you guys doing it in lightning time installing a weltmeister? they charged me for three and a half hours total for the two.

while i think it is a little high, i do have to give them something for the two times i had to show up to order new parts because even though the lister i got them from was absolutely sure all the parts were there.....55 for the first batch and 30 for the second batch with 30 to overnight em so i could DE.

Doesn't sound too long to me. The Welts have a bunch of hardware to figurs out.

Way too long IMHO.... Id say 2 hours for both, and thats being generous. I dont think it even took 2 hours for me to do both, and thats without a lift.

Assuming you gave him the howtos I got off my server, its pretty easy. The extra parts arent that hard.

Well I was talking about a stock 18mm bar, not a welt. As I understand the Welts. have more hardware to install....but still sway bara are not that complicated, and an experienced shop should be able to do them real quick.

I don't have my records in front of me, but I think that 3 hours is roughly what I got charged...it may be a little more, but if they were going back and forth checking to see if you had everything, that would add time to the bill that you can't really begrudge them.

i looked at the bill again, and looked at a bill from new york. a porsche shop in ny charged me 30 labor and 12 for ATE blue to flush the brake system last august. the shop in colorado charged me 90 or 96 labor and 30 for ATE to flush the brakes.

i just asked how much to install front pads and got quoted 1.2 hours at 96, the shop in NY charged me 70 to swap the pads.

maybe im just not used to 96 an hour at an independant shop where rents and utilities are a lot less than they were in NY. but the shop here is real spacious and shiny.

now i have to relearn how to change brake pads tonight so i can DE this weekend.
