Tight steering after reseal
Cleaned up and resealed a boneyard rack I had to swap for the leaky one on the car. Also replaced TREs. Everything went back together fine but now I have only half the boost as before, in both directions. Action is smooth and no nasty noises. The archives mention no boost after a reseal but not partial.
Oh, I also did the 180 deg off with the gear thing (still mystified) so I'm wondering if that would have impact on the degree of boost. Car has not been aligned yet, but I think I got the toe pretty close.

Jack up the front end and blead the system. Adding a little cherry juice at a time, steering lock to lock. Having the wheels off the ground will help you from blowing anything (hoses or seals or pump).
Ya drive her home first.

System's been bled and bled and bled, but not off the ground. But I guess I'll try.
Any way to install the pressure lines to the gear housing backwards? Clutching at straws here.

When I resealed a PS rack it was pretty tight as well. I figured it was simply because all the seals needed to soften up and break in. I didn't keep the car long enough to see if it got better.
You can also try checking your front tire pressures.... if they're low they can make the steering heavier.

I had the same thought but want to be safe. I guess those internal bores haven't exactly been remachined. It also needs an alignment after a strut and TRE replacement done at the same time as the reseal. We'll see.
