Instruments - Rice or Nice?
Played around with the instrument panel over the holidays. Surround painted matt black, matt stainless steel faces with black etched numbers, polished stainless steel bezels. All functions deleted inc mileage, odometer & boost for a clean look. Speed & rpm clocked to start at 6 o'clock.
Going for a more modern look, but need some assurance that it's not too rice.

Rice-a-roni. Looks a bit like lifted early 2000s Chrylsler guages, less the brass needles/trim. The faces in the photos come off a bit like laser printout on paper, and the lack of odo, etc. is perhaps too plain. (white odo with black numbers might be pretty cool with this combo and wake it back up!)
These don't fit the car, but you have done an excellent job in fabricating the guages. These would look great in a fiberglass boat, however, as they would match the 'aura'.
Please keep experimenting though, I'm sure you'll hit the right color/finish combo, as your workmanship is excellent. I'm also inspired by your creativity.
Perhaps red numbers and a less stark white and re-add the odometer in the same combo?

The faces are brushed (matt) stainless steel not aluminum and the bezels polished stainless. The faces didn't come out too good in the photos, they actually look a bit more classy in real life. Still not totally convincing myself here though. More comments please.

The spacing is the same as the original gauges which also don't go all around. These just start at 6 instead of 8.
I have a Momo Millenium Wheel that matches the metals quite well.

I think it looks great. I'd like to see what the whole panel would look like in a brushed alum with the black gauge numbers airbrushed on them. It may be a bit too much alum. but with the right accents it could look nice. White gauges dont always = Rice. Nice work.

It does look nice but I could never get by without an odometer just for service intervals alone. It also might be tough to sell the car without any mileage verification. I had white gauges for awhile and they drove me crazy at night, very distracting IMO.

The guages are not white but brushed stainless and when I shined a bright light on them they didn't reflect a lot back.

I think they look great. Ballsy to delete the odo and the mileage, but my odo doesn't work either and my 924S gauge is also a mileagemeter delete. Good job, did you fab this all yourself, do it to your original gauge faces, or on replacements?

Rice for a 944. I don't understand how (or if) you regeared the gauages to get them to start at 6 as opposed to the usual position. I broke my tach needle fixing the odo once, so I know how fragile it is.
For some reason, having the two middle gauages start at 6 when none of the others do is disharmonious with the rest of them. If they all started like that it might work, but I'm not digging it.
