Yes, it truely was a fun and educational experience! Mike just left, we decided to leave the rest of the engine removal for another weekend and spent most of our time removing tubes and wires. The good news: there is plenty left!
Besides a few extra beers and hotdogs, all of the body and chassis remains. Here is what was taken...
Engine and Tranny by Mike
Brakes, Struts, Spindles and Hubs taken by 75ohm
Sunroof, rubber shift boot and **** and wiper plug from the rear hatch.
Everything else remains, (I think!) Anyway, will post aftermath photos and start shipping and what not tomorrow.
Thanks to all who came and helped, especially 75ohm and his buddy who stayed late to help me remove the tranny. Hope your brakes work out!

I managed to transport one of those Crystal River gigantic arachnids home with me... I just pulled the parts of the explorer and about did one of those "Hooooooooooooomygod" moments... LOL!
Seacay is the 'lister who pulled transaxle duty with me! I'm still getting the grease off me.
Truly was my pleasure to assist and sorry I missed you Mike... JimBob, are you considering the transplant?

Sorry I missed you guys and thanks for the tranny removal, saved us a lot of time messing with that. It's a 3 1/2 hr drive up from Palm Beach so got there just as you (75ohm & seecay) left. So Jimbob, brad and myself started taking the engine pipes, tubes, electrics & ancilaries off. Got a lot done but need to remove the TT, turbo, alternator and A/C comp.
Debating whether to drop or lift the engine. I have only dropped them and it sure looks easier to drop. Am I correct in saying you need to lift the body 30in? It's been a while, anyone have a write up for dropping the x-member/engine?
Thanks for the help, 75ohm, seecay & jimbob and thanks for the hospitality Brad, will see you in a couple of weeks with the truck.

If there aren't any takers on the chassis, I made the recommendation to sawzall the front clip off just ahead of the shock towers. You'll be able to just pull the engine straight off that way.
If the chassis is to live again, you'll need some extra lift capability than what's available there.

I am thinking about the transplant! At least maybe the rear quarter, but it almost seems like less work to just transplant my stuff into that body/chassis! lol I mean my motor runs decent, and mine has a Turbo S tranny... It's a thought...
Thinking about the turbo and the a/c compressor too, but wasn't able to get those off yet. The blades in my turbo have quite a few nicks in them!
Oh, forgot my prybar up there, but think that is best place for right now! lol

PM me when you solidify plans and I will come up. I left some parts behind!

Whoa, was it a big one Jason? Haha, I was going out into the garage where my dad is keeping his beetle, reached out into the darkness for the light switch and put my finger right into one
Finally got the garage back into order, it was quite messy by the end of the day. Jimbob: I do have your crowbar, I put it in the top of the rolling toolbox for safe keeps until next time
Anyway, I am at work right now. When I finish today, expect more photos online so that you can all see what remains.
Adsum!

Is the "batwing" still hanging around? I'm talking about the black pan under the front bumper, listed as "Lining lower extension, batwing, p/n 951.505.075.02." If so, and it's not broken, and you'd be willing to ship, I'm interested.
Thanks,
Scott
