Hey Guys,
Ready for an addition to my story. Well it's been 3 weeks and two days since I purchased my "NEW" 84 944. In addition to what I wrote, I was driving to the bank today to deposit some cash, and I started to hear a grinding noise come from the back, when I slow down it, it gets quieter. When I shift into a higher gear (2,3) it gets real loud. I limped it back to my job and had to call a tow truck to take it home. The tow truck driver asked does it really cost a lot to maintain. I said I wouldn't know since I only had it for three weeks. Well I raised the car and changed the gear oil, started her up and tried driving but as soon as I shifted into first the noise was back . It will have to stay there till the weekend till I can figure out what to do next. I have no clue...............

You could say Im down on my luck. Here's my story.
I'm at a stoplight, and I take off. I hear a slight clicking noise. Well it gets louder and louder, so I quickly shift. THe noise goes away. Hmm, downshift, the noise is back, very loud. I take it in to get checked. You guessed it, blown tranny. Oh well. I'll look for one. At least it still drives kind of, just not in 2nd.

I go about looking for a wrecked 944 to buy and hey, I can even get a nice windshield to replace my cracked one, and maybe even get a few pieces here and there that I need. Everything sounds good, I might even make some after parting it out. My brother agrees to borrow me some money short time since i will get it back somewhat soon from ebay. I am 22 and he is 25, so he is giving me basically all of his spare money.

Well I locate a car, has everything I need. The temperature is above 50 finally in wisconsin, its a gorgeous day. Rained earlier but no big deal. My deal with the guy is all set up, Im getting the car the next weekend. Feeling good. I decide to take it around the block since its been sitting a while. Just keep it out of 2nd right? Well Im going 40 on the street here, see a nice sweeper in front of a bank. Just start to accelerate to about 50, taking the corner nicely.

Then, the rear end starts to come out. I try to hold it straight, and I do kind of, but I am slightly pushed forward to where the car is pointing for some reason. Dont know if I would have prevented a spinout or not because a fire hydrant helped me complete it anyways. This is what happened.

I am in utter shock. As some of you know, this is a very strange feeling. I have an impulse to get it off the road. I start it back up. Thankfully it does. Put it in first and after massive engine power (this is a slightly modified 951) it starts to push its mangled body off the road. I don't know why, but later find out its because of a snapped A arm and massive suspension damage. I dont want any tickets or who knows what, so I push it behind the bank. The bank people come out, I tell them Im ok and no need for cops, I didnt damage anything else. Thankfully the cops dont come.

Back at home, I am talking it over with the folks. We are talking about insurance. After talking to the insurance guy, he says that if I claim it, my dad would probably be dropped from that company (I am under him). Well his work van is on there as a personal vehicle, and he'd have to get special business insurance which is 3 times higher. Its a long story, but he says we just can't claim it. I am extremely upset. I will have no car, I already have no money. I am totally screwed.

Well because its not claimed, I cant get a rental car from the insurance company or anything to go to part time job (I go to school). I have to call in and tell them I can't come in anymore. Now I have no job.

Well thats it. I can honestly say I have never been more depressed in my life than I am now. I finally am able to get my dream car at a young age. I was able to afford it because I bought it broken. I had to replace the torque tube. It had a brand new koni adjustable suspension. By brand new, I mean no more than 50 miles. It broke right after the previous owner did the suspension. Well now I need to find a new koni somewhere, mine is toast. Thankfully the deal for the other porsche went through, and I have some parts to fix it. But I need the whole car straightened out and front end painted. My car had the most gorgeous paint job, you can even tell from the pics. It was a recent job, totally redone.

My sister knows a paint guy. Supposedly he is very good. She says he did Glenn Robinson's (milwaukee bucks) truck. He comes over in this very nice escalade and after talking he says he can do it for $1500. Holy crap I think. Thats a great deal. Good thing she knows him pretty well. But still, thats $1500 I dont have. Plus $350 or so for the koni, $150 for the rim, gotta get a tire (big hole ripped out of it). Who knows what else.

Need at least $2000. Owe my brother $2000 for the other car. Hmm, now I have no job, no way to get another one, I'm tottaly SOL. I was thinking I'll hopefully find a job within walking distance, even if its a ****ty job. Maybe find a $300 beater or something. Either way I have to start totally from scratch. Retake all my classes next semester. Graduate and get back on my feet. I really dont know what to do now though. Not even my folks have the money. My dad has a job with poor benefits (like none). He has big expenses like he has to pay for all of his health insurance. He said it was like $500 something a month. And he's just like a local delivery guy. All his retirement is in 401k.

So thats my story. I will have to let my car sit for who knows how long and start over trying to scrape up the money to get it fixed. She's off the road and out for the count. I had saved up so long just to get the damn thing. I know now I probably shouldn't have gotten it. Couldn't afford it. But everyone of you knows what I mean when I say I just couldn't pass it up.

11 people so far, 12 with me. I think it's time I post my story. I thought for sure I would win this month but after hearing about what happened Paul I dunno about that anymore. Crazy stuff I'm in pretty much the same situation now except I think my car will actually get fixed.. but on the other hand.. I think I'm failing out of school again. D'oh.

Incase anyone missed my story, here is the thread about my accident My Accident
Basically, my driverse side quarter panel got smashed to bits by this big ugly wrangler and it's going to cost me 2K to repair. Owch. Here are some pics:

a sad sight, I know.

Thanks for reading. Vote for me .
..and... lets get some more BLF participants!

I'll participate. Paul's story seems the worst so far, but didnt we say that you had to be of a certain "rennlist age" before you could receive the fund?? Further more, shouldnt the applicants supply photos of their disasters?

Hey simon, if you want, I can cut the rear quarter out of my spare car if it'll help you out. It'd be a shame to cut it up cause maybe someone could use it for racing or something. I doubt it though, so if you want something let me know. I will only need the front and stuff I can sell.

Oh and if someone needs my paypal account for the contest its pakron1122@yahoo.com

Pakron1122 is my ebay ID. If anybody needs some porsche parts please bid! I got some stuff closing tomorrow.

Paul
