Default How does an aftermarket MAF connect to the AFM harness?

Hi,
The oem harness connects to my autothority maf via a harness that is about 3 inches long. One end of the harness connects to the MAF, the other end plugs into the oem connection. Does this OEM connection plug directly into the original AFM? Or does the original AFM have a small 3 inch harness like the autothority maf?
Here is a picture of this small 3 inch harness I am talking about (taken from mike murcia's post):

Where could I buy a male "vaf" connection for the OEM harness? I believe it is called "vaf" but I can't remember.

in your case it looks like the oem connection plugs right into that.
I see the 2 wires for the air temp sensor and the others for the signal. Its the same signals the ECU needs

I understand the oem connector plugs to that. I'm curious if the oem connector plugs directly into the afm? I ask because I need to know if I could find this part on a junked 944. I don't know where to buy the male plug. I need to find this male part:

Yes, the OEM connector plugs directly to the AFM. There is no extra wires like in your conversion.

ok, so you don't have either side of that harness coming out of the maf?
You just have a maf and no connectors?

Don't think that connector is standard. You could use a old AFM salvage on but if you don't have a connector male and female you can use any 5 wire connectors for this job. Does not have to be the same as long as the correct wires are connected together.

Just hardwire the MAF in. If you don't have the original AFM, and never plan to put one in, cut off the connector and match up the wires.

My MAF is installed with the wires tapping into the appropriate wires on the other side of the AFM plug. I soldered and spliced them in. So the AFM connector is intact, and the MAF harness is attached off of the AFM wiring like a pigtail. Makes swapping the 2 out a snap, and leaves both MAF and AFM plugs in the car at all times.

The only difference on mine is the Air Temp sensor unplugs at the sensor.
